And why not create a Steam Group named "CoH2-custom games" until we actually get a lobby?
Most likely the best idea for a quickfix in thread |
Close air support is good against vehicles not infantry, that is what you got the strafingrun for (on the assault support commander). Dunno about heavy tanks, but it does great damage on light and can hurt medium vehicles. |
Agreed, there is another quite recent thread on this as well. But this is very much needed! |
@Robotnik, the question at hand are rather early game counters. Late game, almost all units will make short work of a bunker. A clever bunkerplacement earlygame can deny the opponent long enough for the opponent to get a good foothold in the game. |
I would argue that the building cover design synergy with the powerful buildings is the big issue. Making the problem more map specific in my opinion. On more open maps with few buildings I find them less of a problem. Still, the map-design is unlikely to change. So either buildings and or osttruppen have to change to make buildingheavy maps feel more viable. |
I wouldnt say its the equivalent of the ostheer strafingrun, mostly because it costs alot more and kills infantry. It really denies the ostheer to blob up infantry. Its very powerfull, but still possible to retreat out of (weaponcrews are very likely toast). Also, as pointed out can be countered.
As for base strafes, even the strafing run in base will shut down a player. It might not kill full health squads, but lowhealt. And the instapin also shuts down infantry counters like AT-nades and guards. It requires more units to do the damage, but comes with a cheaper pricetag. |
Why get so personal?
@OP
I would actually rather see more information. Just like you can see your own commanders in lobby (now also when searching), I would also like to see the opponents commanders when mouse over, when match is found. I remember a few of the commanders, but not all. And the small portraits look somewhat similar. This could tell me if he has got shocktroops, heavy strafe, IS2, or whatever I need to know when I go into the game. |
ty, good to know. |
if on tanks, it should be on all units, mgs showing when they need to reload etc. That said, I dont think this is needed. It will more or less just clutter things up, even if only on tanks. If you need to know when to stop, try to measure the ROF of diffrent tanks and adjust your movement after that.
