Saying that you are entitled to compensation isn't very fair as you payed for their services (patches, freeDLC (maps, MLNW commanders, skins, and new bullitins). Server upkeep isnt cheap nor is producing new models for WFA and Brits. They aren't "fucking around with" you, making the base game free 2 play (solvs, and wher) allows for a larger community, a more inclusive community, and a gateway to get new people to add to balance discussion.
You can go on all day about the value proposition of a video game but honestly its all about where you stand financially. Making the base factions wouldn't effect you in any way other. It would be as if relic made CoH3 and made the base factions the same as coh2 but made them free 2 play. Its not an attack on you the consumer its simply changing their business model.
I'm not entitled to anything nor do I demand that I am, and this is not about fairness it's about keeping your most loyal fanbase happy and actually upholding that loyalty, why would I be loyal to somebody who's constantly treating me as a peice of shit, or in this case, a money bag? In games that went F2P those who bought the original game were somehow compensated but they were of course not entitled to it, but if the game developer wanted to keep his most loyal and active fanbase loyal they gave me additional and special if not even premium content over the F2P fanbase, for example let's take Valve and TF2, all F2Ps needed to buy something in order for them to become premium players, or since 2013 or whatever Easter a premium gift in order for you to make your account premium and get more slots, the ability to trade and a few more things. I understand the the way F2P works and the DLC in this game would greatly help that but I refuse to keep supporting Relic if they pull this off with a simple "Sorry but we need to make more money and for that we need more people and for that we need to make some part of the game F2P". I don't care about that, I have all of the armies and pretty much all of the commanders with the exception of a few and for now my most played Armies have been Ostheer until OKW and OKW until UKF, now I'm constantly switching between UKF and OKW because I like both but I don't even bother with the other 3, that's also the reason why I'm against some of the directions taken with the new war spoil changes as well.
TL;DR
Make your most loyal fans feel loved and not just treated as a pile of money. |
Game wouldn't start with the files copied over from the .rar over to COH2's main directory with the .exe file, and to be honest I believe this guy since I'm a techie myself and this did not look like the type of person and file to fuck up your computer/game. |
As far as the RAM goes I would also recommend Razer Cortex, been using for some time now and cant really say it hasn't helped my 2011 Sony VAIO with 4 gigs of RAM, looking to upgrade to 8 soon but until then... Thanks for the guide, I'll make sure to fav it and maybe come back to it one day for some regular maintenance. |
I've said it till I'm blue in the face. Base factions should be free to play. All other factions should be paid.
Their new alpha for CoH2 currancy shows they are allowing players more options to buy commanders but its coming rather late. Still better than what they have now but people need to calm down about this and let the alpha continue to work.
Now your other topic on bugs is a good one. Relics QA team needs to be fired or need a hard shaking. Don't get me wrong, coh2 is a deep game that can have many knock off effects but most of these issue we find can come about playing a game with each faction and releasing. Patches SHOULD be delayed if there are large issues and should be tested a week before actual release like we have in the past.
If they make the base Armies free I want all WFA and British commanders released up to that point as compensation, I can't just fork over a hundred bucks at a whim just because I think I'm a loyal fan, either that or Relic totally lose me as a fan and customer and I won't even care if they fix the game in some point in time after that. And not threatening anybody with anything. I just want them to know I'm not a schmuck with which they can fuck around with, and so is most of their community I believe. |

Wasn't that the planned American defensive company commander? Or so I heard at least, and I think the Soviet one was from Tank Desant? The one with the riding infantry on tanks and stuff, that was cool looking. |
This article was formatted guide-like but it's really more of a news post about the new commanders. As yukiko said, it came out later than expected.
I do think you're underestimating how much a 30% health increase is, especially for buildings that get brace(-75% incoming damage on top of a 30% health increase = basically 0 damage taken while braced, worth 75 munitions I think)which makes that armor value increase even more notable.
I can say that from personal experience this isn't so, the emplacements still fall to anything else but small arms fire and the like, the 30% health increase you're talking about gives you a few moments more at the max, as does brace if baited, and by that I mean make the British player brace his emplacement and then wait for 30 secs until it un-braces to kill it with whatever else you got that hits heavier than with what you baited it in the first place. |
Limits are generally a bad way to design and balance the game. It restricts what options you have and if carried far enough would railroad everyone into the same builds.
Instead the game is balanced around the notion that you can build whatever you like, but it will have weaknesses. Sure you can spam 4 or 5 arty units, just don't expect it to stop a tank rush.
Why the limit on Heavy Tanks then? I mean, if what you say is true, I don't see a point in the heavy tank limit being 1. Yeah sure it's not the same type of unit but still, it's a limit, something which you're opposed to. |
It helps quite a bit against 222, luchs, and flak halftrack.
All of that is here
If I'm not mistaken the guide says that "if you think the British emplacements weren't hard enough to destroy or had long enough range, Relic thought otherwise" which suggests that this is some OP upgrade from the standard emplacements for 75 munitions which it really is not. |
So with the introduction of the land mattress I've seen a lot of complaints about artillery spam, and the problem was there even before the arrival of the British and other Allied rocket artillery like the Calliope.
So, I decided to make this poll to see how much people would like to see the old limit of CoH on artillery come back, since in the old game, with the arrival of the Panzer Elite and British came along Self-Propelled Artillery in the form of the M7 Priest and Hummel, which were later limited to 3 each to combat spam, perhaps this is also needed in CoH 2 for the same reasons but instead of just limiting call-in artillery I propose we also limited non-doctrinal one, for example you can't get more than 3 Panzerwerfers and 3 Katyushas, the support guns of the Western Front Armies are up for debate as well as the British mortars, and I don't think the Eastern Front mortars should also have the limit as they're not as effective or spammed as much, or at least that's what I've noticed. So yeah, this is generally it, cheers. |
