If they keep durability away from commanders then it'll be a lot better, unless you happen to be a person who really likes skins. But when you release paid DLC that affects gameplay without giving players a way to reliably obtain that content over time without paying, then you're forcing players into a situation where they need to pay extra money in order to have access to the same gameplay options available to other players. It should be obvious why that is a terrible situation for a multiplayer game based around competition. In: Lobby

CoH2 isn't a client-server game like CS/TF2, at its core it's still a peer-to-peer game, which means every player is going to need artwork for every decal on their hard drives. It's going to be just like skins are now, and just like skins in games like CSGO and Dota 2. You'll be able to submit designs to the workshop, and if Relic likes them they'll add them to the game for everyone to buy/use. When modding becomes more robust you might be able to create custom decals, but those will only be viewable to you because your opponents won't have the artwork to view them. The only decals you'll be able to use that your opponents will be able to see are decals Relic has released or approved from the workshop. In: Lobby

It turns the drop system into a demo for the store. You should really read the thread before you respond. A lot of possible alternatives have been discussed. The problem is there really isn't a way to implement item degredation without it ultimately affecting the consumer in a negative way, unless they make the durability reduction so insignificant that it might as well not exist. Hopefully they prove me wrong. I just don't see how they can create a system around durability that both makes them money and lets people who don't want to pay money still access all gameplay-related content, and their previous venture into the field with CoHO was less than encouraging. So it's Relic's fault for using non-standard rendering techniques and nVidia's fault for not supporting them. However, I seem to remember from a comment somewhere that Relic was aware that their techniques weren't supported and were essentially gambling that nVidia would support them eventually, which they haven't done yet. You're definitely not going to be able to use your own, because the whole point of them is your opponent will be able to see them as well. However, it seems likely that you will be able to submit designs through Steam Workshop in the future for inclusion in the game. Relic will likely screen these and select their favourites from the submissions. In: Lobby
