Poor Euan, just wanted information on the current meta and instead he got a pissing match. From what I've see in 1v1. Generally speaking the reworked commanders and stuff that got a buff are more common now.
OKW - Battlegroup is much more common - either Flak HT or a fast P4 seems to be the norm. I hardly see Luches rush anymore. Luff Ground Forces is much more common now but old mainstays like Scavenge and Spec Ops haven't gone anywhere.
USF - Mechanized and Recon are viable but other than that much hasn't changed- LT builds might be more common now that you don't have to worry about Luches every match. Armor has kind of fallen out of favor even though it's still pretty good. I feel like Infantry Company is newly popular.
Soviets - Conscript builds seem to be favored and Guards are pretty popular as well now that they aren't trash. Overall pretty flexible in what is a viable build now. Probably the hardest faction to predict a strategy from I'd say.
Ostheer - G43 grens seem to be most popular- lots of jaeger infantry because Jeager Command squad is love and life. Lightning War and Elite Troops are also frequently seen still. Overall strategies haven't changed much except you see more people teching T3 into T4 now if they can swing the fuel for Brumbar or Panther.
Brits - Commander picks haven't been shaken up much - still lots of Vanguard, SPecial Weapons, Mobile Assault (Commando is actually viable and used now though). Emplacements aren't really that great or used frequently from what I've seen. UC is a bit more popular. Hammer is still >> Anvil. Brits were mostly just made less cheesy. Their lack of snare and indirect fire options are still a headache when you play as them.
Hope that helps. |
They didn't pick DOW3 to compete because a free copy of DOW3 is the prize kappa |
Did I miss something or can the ST still not be used to make using support weapons a complete pain? Seriously, just because you can't cheese units through shot blockers (or beyond their sight range) doesn't mean that you still can't use it to constantly threaten support weapons and force them to pack up or get wrecked. You just have to get used to using it as a non-cheese unit. (Not that it matters all that much because the commander is pretty lackluster outside of HEAT rounds) . You also forget that it got a 10 second reload buff which is pretty substantial. |
Guess you weren't playing much pre-december patch lol. Its in a good place now, it's good enough to go for but not so good that it's a no-brainer like it used to be |
Personally the only gripe i have with Recon is how Munitions heavy it is. It's really hard to fully utilize both combat group and greyhound to full extent because upgrades for both and canister shot uses most if not all of your munitions for just 2 units. Almost wish the combat group was like 20 fuel or something else instead of munitions. |

Man, you know there is some serious salt involved when Soviet sniper flares gets dropped as an example of something that needs balanced. |
It actually works! ***In rank 3000 games, your mileage may vary)*** |
Checkout Tightropes Tips and Tricks videos on Youtube... I know in one he specifically showed how to aim the Stuka well. If I recall correctly it's something like the third arrow on the aiming strip is where the first rocket always lands or something to that effect. |
StuGs really are a must if you're behind in fuel/tanks (which if you are being outnumbered by 2 to 1 then you clearly not holding as much of the map or fuel points as you think you are).
StuGs have the benefit of being cheaper than other tanks and generally fire faster than Allied counterparts and are only outranged by Jackson and ISU from what I recall - so X2 StuG can wreck almost anything if you micro them well IE
1. Spot for them with Pioneers and other infantry
2. Keep Grenadiers or Shreked PGs around for screening
3. Use Teller mines on your flanks to protect them
4. Don't over extend them - try to force your opponent to attack from predictable directions
4. The above also applies to PAKs as well |
Honestly I feel like the Easy 8 is kind of redundant with the Jackson buff and Easy 8 scatter nerf - now Jackson can dive a little bit easier with his extra health. Easy 8 is still nice if you want a more generalist unit with more health and armor but I feel like HE Shermans backed up with Jackson give you a little more wipe potential overall as Easy8 AI is only so-so IMO. That being said having a commander with Flamer REs is still a big draw on certain maps. Edit- For that reason I like Stephans idea of maybe turning the E8 into a premium advanced medium like the Comet and increasing its cost to match that performance. |
