I've been working on an Italian faction mod for awhile now, limited to using existing models as stand-ins. I think I have something that's enjoyable to play and quite unique.
some blatant showing off :
and a couple doctrinal units with fancy portraits: Folgore Paracudutisti Guastatori (Elite Combat Engineers) Alpini Light Infantry Blackshirt Militia
Plenty of scope for interesting units, especially infantry. Italian soldiers were (in)famous for suffering from poor leadership, morale, and substandard equipment, but there were plenty of cases of RIA men fighting as hard as the best in any combatant's army, especially the paratrooper brigades and light infantry units. To reflect that I've got a simple 'morale' system bodged in- non-elite units suffer from various debuffs when outside friendly territory or out of cover. Requisitioning officers removes the debuffs.
Naturally there's a problem implementing heavier vehicles, for the historical reason that none actually existed For that reason the Italians play something like the allies- heavy on the infantry, but their vehicle tech tree peaks at the same level as the soviets and USF.
Now I just need playtesters...
Thats cool to actually see somebody do something about it. Instead of just say i want italians, romanians, and blah... blah..
watched troyd destin stream yesterday, during i seen one of his 222 scout cars, do a 180 degrees wheelie. Killed a 6 pounder at gun and escape into the sunset. was pretty cool to see. lol!
maybe for the mg team. have the gun being operated like a team, by 2 soldiers so if one dies theres another to take his place immediately. that way the mg doesnt get slaughtered straight away and always has somebody firing it. or/and give the mg a shield like at guns so it has some cover?
maybe have suppressed infantry automatically move away from the mg, or whatever is suppressing them? or at least lose direct control of the squad or squads movements, temporarily? that way u can only throw a grenade from the squad is and not be able to crawl closer to throw it.
there are so many cool ways to earn money thru cosmetics, skins ( really cool ones), the name tags you mentioned, voice packs for units etc. the problem is you need to deliver a good game before players spend money on cosmetics..
yea, i would spend money on name tags, voices, National flag decals CA . maybe even on different unit portraits. or uniforms and camos for the infantries.
I actually spent like 150$ on top of the original price, for the Call of Duty games. up until Ghosts. then i said garden this crap. lol! but i always liked the idea of leveling up unlocking the guns instead of having to buy them with real money. then prestiging and doing it all over again 15 times.
i wont spend any money on this game though, which i actually got for free
I personally prefer 2v2 games, however, i can 1v1 only atm, computer is struggling to run this game, these days.
pretty much just started 1v1, and i really am starting to enjoy it!
its kinda like me vs them type of thing. Almost feels like a dynamic chess match. Which when i do win a game im like totally freaking out with YAYS!!!
nothing wrong with 3v3, 4v4 they just don't rub me right.
