Thread: What would a third German faction look like?22 Jan 2015, 02:07 AM I wouldn't make the claim Ostheer and Soviets are both exclusively 43 onwards when both make use of early war units. I still really do not see how North Africa factions based around mass artillery, AT guns, and large mobile forces of Half Tracks wouldn't work. It might also help improve balance if both forces are gear towards slowing and disabling tanks then pounding them with artillery helping swing the meta away from all heavy tanks all day. Sure but the fact remains you can have early 44 armies using 1941-1942 units fighting King Tigers. The Afrika Korp really wouldn't be anymore out of place imho and might actually lead to idk some variety in this game? In: COH2 Gameplay

Makes as much sense as adding early version of T34/76. I would take the Jadgpanther any day over the Jadgtiger. A more apt comparison would be "Why add a model of t34 in between the 85 and 76? It totally destroys OH, but there was a Thread that wanted it to be buffed because of OKW. If we add another 2 Factions, for example Ostheer has exactly ZERO more options to counter anything, but it needs to be able to counter 1 more arsenal. Maybe you meant more units for the existing factions? With that I could maybe agree... (Or maybe you meant Teamgames, where it might atleast not have a big impact) (That all said, I would have no big problem with more factions ) More units in general is better be it added by a faction or commander or anything else. One of the reasons it's so hard to bloody balance is because of the shear lack of options. You HAVE to go Jackson as USF for mobile end game AT, if USF had more to chose room they wouldn't ALWAYS need a Jackson. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: What would a third German faction look like?21 Jan 2015, 19:18 PM Contrary to popular belief adding more factions wouldn't make it harder to balance, as the more units you put in the game the more counters people will have to things and thus more options. What's hard to balance is having a very small selection of units and attempting to balance them in a way that works perfectly rather than having a large selection for people to chose from to fit different situations. It's hardly a unique idea, as it's something I've seen floated on both forums for a while now. I think it's a safe bet to suggest that either Italy or North Africa (Commonwealth vs. Italians/Germans) is the most popular setting for the next expansion, but I'd certainly rather see an interesting mixed faction than another German one. Well considering the shear number of ground based non-tank units the Axis had we haven't see yet Relic still has a lot they could put in the game. A Africa based expansion which armies focused a lot less on armor and more on artillery/half traks/AT guns would be a very nice change of pace. In: COH2 Gameplay
