FYI - The "alpha" channels actually have "alpha" in the name. Depending on the size of your TS window, you may have to scroll down to see them. Some of the Bears like myself are not in the alpha so make sure you're in the right channel. |
The whole reason there are so many toxic community members is because there has been huge amounts of bullshit since its release. Perhaps if balance wasn't shit most of the games life I'd be more inclined to respect the NDA and relic, but I give no shits.
Relic Faith Rating: 0
I work for a company that makes toilet paper and paper towels. The NDA's that it has in place are much more stringent than anything from Relic or Sega. If it had an Alpha, not only would your ass not be invited, most of the employees wouldn't be allowed to know anything about it before launch (or flush in this case). In this day of Sarbanes-Oxley and shareholder lawsuits, NDA's are standard.
You might post something about the Alpha, but it would be COH2.ORG's responsibility to remove it immediately if it violates the NDA. Fan sites like this sit in grey areas of copyright infringement and it wouldn't take too much for Relic or Sega to send a cease-and-desist if there is a problem. |
An agreement is an agreement welcome to the world of grownups.
Could you explain this, please? I'm being genuine here. I don't understand what you mean.
Let me help. It was just a simple grammar error like the following:
Let's eat Grandma!
Let's eat, Grandma!
Words are dangerous.
Commas save lives.

The Mg42 can take on 3 squads on avg, its easy to hold a front and easy to move. The smoke range for the rifle men has a short range and by the time they fire it off they get suppressed. After this the USF player will try and move the rifle men close for a nade but by that time the mg has already moved and re-positioned itself making it impossible for USF to have the "Early game advantage" as everyone complains about.
Back to the topic at hand, I think its alright that they can throw it while suppressed, it has a long count down and makes them able to counter bunker spam early game.
I'm pretty sure they still throw when suppressed but not when pinned, and think that is okay. I've played Soviet in around 400 games, and destroyed maybe a dozen Schwerers. It's pretty much only when someone thinks that the Schwerer should be able to lock down a huge area by itself so they place it really aggressively and don't support it that I get one with satchels. Had they picked even a semi-decent location for their Schwerer, then it wouldn't get satchel charged.
As far as "smart" mg play goes, when I run into someone who actually is good with them, I have the same thing happen to me as you describe. It's really tedious and if you're having to use smoke from either a Shock or mortar, you'll probably find the smoke on cooldown and end up retreating, with only wasted munitions for your efforts. |
I was Tank Hunter when Tank Hunter wasn't cool.....
After seeing Beemer pull it off, I tried it and it was a fun change. The 5 muni mines are one of the best bargains in the game. Just don't forget to move off of them after planting. Squad wipes are much better when they're standing on the mines than you, and yes, one of those mines will wipe most or all of a squad. In general, my micro and macro aren't quite up to the task but it beats playing Guard Motor or Shock Rifle all of the time. Rage quit when someone loses Panther to 5 muni mine plus 30 muni mine and 2 SU76's is worth it.
ML-20 doctrines get an honorable mention, in the few times that they can be used since everyone has CAS.
USF Armor kind of fun - sometimes have 30-40 crushes with M10's, it's like using MS Paint with the big eraser, just on mistakes that look like Sturmpios |
Soviet Shock Army in T4? Shocks, ppsh's, 120's, ML-20. - On maps like Steppes it might be tier 4 but on City 17, Lienne Forest, etc, it seems much better than that. The worst part about it is Relic's decision to give everyone CAS which makes it hard to use ML20. |
I voted yes but think it should be doctrinal. It kind of goes against the design of the faction so I'd be surprised to see it. |
Ill partially answer this,OKW is not my favorite but playing against them and watching I've come to these conclusions.
Thanks! One follow-up question - when you go Breakthrough, do you ever get a sturmoficer (sp?)? I never seem to have enough munitions to use his abilities so I'm not sure how useful he normally is. |
The Soviet player went Counterattack which seemed weird, at least until shreks and fausts started bouncing. What doctrine would most people use on this? I felt off balance the whole game and spent a lot of time reacting so I'd like some tips on what I should have been doing if someone has the time to watch. |
I've only played a few games as OKW and have some questions for the people who play a lot of 1v1's. The smaller maps and no OST teammates mean not a lot of munitions and seem to force some hard choices.
1) 3 volks or 4? Does it depend on the map? Do you upgrade them all right away or wait until armor out?
2) Do you buy the ISG? I've been buying one but it seems to kill less than an OST motar but costs twice as much. If you don't, how do you counter Soviet mortars, who seem to bleed OKW like crazy (my micro isn't good enough to keep all my units moving all of the time).
3) If you get a ISG, do you spot for it with an IR halftrack or a unit like Jaeger Light or Panzerfusiliers?
4) If you're pretty sure that they're going Shock Rifle, do you get Jagdpanzer first or Panther?
5) If they've decided to be as annoying as garden pudding and get one or two snipers, how do you counter those? I've tried Jaeger Light but they still seem to bleed manpower badly.
6) What commanders do you usually have loaded?
7) Is there a map guide somewhere? I've googled for one but haven't been able to find one. |
