I'm not endorsing the idea, but don't pretend it would be impossible to balance.
Maybe Assault Riflemen couldn't use AT grenades, and maybe Tankbusters couldn't throw grenades or pop smoke. Hell, maybe both could have only four models.
Furthermore, weapon racks would still be worth it for getting weapons from the opposite tier. (If you go Captain, your going to want to give your Rifles BARs, obviously.)
I think this entire things lacking purpose, because the only USF woes right now are terrible Stuart, M2HB, lack of mortar, and late game Riflemen scaling. But I felt the need to turn Ratchets idea into something that makes sense. |
A more rational idea: if the officer squad from the tier is alive, allow either Assault Rifleman armed with 1 BAR and Tommy to be bought for 360 MP, or Tankbuster Riflemen for 440 MP. Both these units would replace the officer in the UI as long as he's still alive. On Me!, sprint, and supervise would obviously be removed.
Basically it would save USF munitions in exchange for MP. Idk if it would be balanced but I think it's similar to what Ratchet wants. |

The combo of Sherman's, Jackson's, and P47s have been making the late game impossible for me. I can draw a line in the sand with PaKs, Grens, PzGrens, and halftracks. But any offensive action gets beat back by USF Jackson's and HE loaded Sherman's. |
I've created a research option in the german T2 building. Once researched, it allows an upgrade to be purchased on all pionier squads.
However, the game says that I cant upgrade my pionier squad; "no other upgrades" is the reason.
I've checked and there arent any other upgrades. What does this mean? |
