Hence, the relative balancing approach we have last 3 years.
There is no benchmark, because not a single group of units were changed to match a cost effective performance of specific opposing units, every single unit changed over last 3 years was changed because IT was the issue, not to be leveled with another, with maybe exception of soviet sniper, which was kind of both.

Or in simplier words:
The benchmark changes all the time and there is no magical constans to be followed. That approach was dropped over 5 years ago now.

And inb4 "relic said so, so its truth"

You are simply missing the point. I am not saying what has been done since MOd team took over, I am simply saying what should be done.

But your theory that the MOD team does not uses a benchmark and does not compare units is simply false as one can see from the patch notes:

M17 Quad

We wanted to tone down the performance of the Quad to be in-line with Light Tanks and other suppression platforms. In order to make infantry counters to this unit viable, the M17 can no longer suppress enemy squads on the move.

Mortars

The escalation of mortar power has made them over perform compared to other types of more costly artillery pieces that had not received this bonus such as Pack Howitzers and Mortar Half-tracks.

It there in black and white that the units are being evaluated in comparison with other units.

I think part of the problem in COH2 is we dont have the medical bunker mechanic like COH1. The Zombie squads would deviate good amount of issues with 4 man squad wipes with Grens.

It called setting a benchmark not socialism. One decides the power level he want and brings all other units to that power level.

The power level of units has been increased over the patches and one should start considering lowering that level instead of continuing this buff circle.

This sounds like some sort of power inflation to me.
It's true we all like buffs, but I agree with vipper, things are getting a bit out of hand at this moment. Buff here, buff there, buff again back the first one, etc
