Downloaded the mappatch and played a couple of games - at the end of the second got a bugsplat (not unusual).
Now when trying to launch it flashes up the title and crashes back to desktop (never had this problem in 5 years).
I'll validate files etc and get back to you
Patch has broken my game (for now)

I've been getting that crash (ctd before the intros start playing) for longer than this patch. Restarting pc always fixes it but restarting Steam might work as well.

and in worst case: reinstall coh2. I had this problem too in past. But it has nothing to do with the patch.

If steam has an update, which they do almost every other day, it might cause the game to not run until you download the steam update. I used to have this years ago, it happened until I upgraded hardware. Maybe driver related or something.
