Can't tell if troll thread. It looks like a legit question, but when you say it pens kubels the legitmacey of it goes out the window.

Regardless though my list would be from best to worst of stock mobile MGs:

50cal
MG42
Maxim
Vickers
MG34

Altough the MG34 is last, I'd say the maxim vickers and MG34 are all fairly close in effectivness. Some in different areas, but they all ALMOST get the job done.

MG42 is, in my opinion, the best HMG.

Vet1 incindiary AP rounds wreck LV's before i have a pak40 out, and the ability to rapidly suppress infantry makes this an amazing piece of weaponry to have in any army.

ordinary 50 cal usf penetrates kubel, and fortifications is just a copy of it.

MG42, got AP rounds for when I need a soft AT unit and the unit accumulates veterancy likes crazy when put up against infantry.

Few things beat the awesome infantry killing power of the MG42 really.

mg42 hands down. I have one condition that makes the mg42 even better and that is capturing it with a soviet squad and having become a 6 men crew. Then it is truly a gift from the Gods.

I would say mg42 because it absolutely liquifies lights with ap rounds loaded, and is t0. .50 cal is a really close second though, for being almost ridiculously mobile.

I'd say the mg42, because its 20 manpower cheaper and because of its performance in the machine gun role.

I'd definitely say the .50 is better though.
The mg42 is the best at being a machine gun. The .50 is the best at being an a-moving suppression platform of doom (making it better overall).

Then again, I can always very much support this well thought out tier list:

MG42 wins because it's always available and from the start of the game, else the .50 is quite underrated, it's the one reason to go LT in my opinion.

MG42 still feels like the gold standard.
50 cal seems almost as good, just not as wide of an arc
DBP Maxim seems okay, but not in same league as other two
MG32 fires rubber bullets as ever, suppresses okay but would be nice if it did some damage
