CPU is really good at splitpushing through the whole map and i'll argue it's better than the average player. 
IF you could only give some instructions to the IA to avoid those "suicide pushes"...

I agree with you. I had few victories with CPU, One of them is when I was AGAINST 3 players ALONE. And we had losing first, so another 2 playeres are gone and called me NOOB. SO I left alone. But NO surrender. I won that match. With 2 cpu on my side. Yes.

I believe that in COH1 the AI would actually try to obey your map pings and attack wherever you ordered it to. In COH2 it just ignores you.

If you ping the map using the red marker the AI will send all his forces there to attack.

In COH1 there were 3 kinds of blips you could make: "Attack, Defend, Capture".  They were a single beep and functioned very well.  The AI responded to them as well.
