So has anyone tried the KV-2 since they buffed the HP from 800 to 1080 and switched out soviet industry? I personally have been toying around with it for funsies and I've never noticed how fast the velocity of its shells were. Coming as someone who came around only after the initial nerf to the commander, I've only played with the KV-2 a couple of times a long, long time ago, and I remember misses, lots of misses, from the slow shells. In siege mode it still misses a ton, but it's surprisingly accurate when it's mobile. It's a real squad wiping machine, and with 300 or so damage to boot, a relic of a time when tanks did more than the standard 160 I guess. Although it's fire rate is horrendously slow, I feel like if the commander catches on, it could case some real rage.

What are your guys' thoughts on the KV-2?

First post, I have been playing around with it and have realized it has no priorities vehicle ability and a whopping 11.16 second reload (approx) on the move. Secure mode does not suit it since it has its siege mode.

Its range is a little pitiful (40) and its pen is alright considering its damage (average pen 180), maybe can have a little more. Its armor is not tough that makes it quite vulnerable when in siege mode.

In short, really just need a little more love. The KV 2 deals 240 damage and yes, does have very bad accuracy as well as comes out at 14cp for some reason.

in short its mediocre. Plus kv2 commander have nothing useful exept that tank. No infantry first of all. ISU > KV2. And isu doc have an infantry.

I like the changes, a real consistent anti-infantry tank with a nice hp bar.

Maybe SU-85's behind KV-2 lines will prove popular in the future.

I tried to, but the games were either too short or opponents doctrine choice nullified KV-2 before I could even pick a doc :foreveralone:

It has normal HP but it's still shit.

Over 11 sec reload with no bonuses for vetting.
Cannto hit a shit. Just put it in front of a tank and watch how shells are hiiting ground in front and next to target.
14CP is just a joke when it's worse than other heavies.
Whole doctrine has nothing special to offer.
Repair station and crew repairs? huh? Why would I want 2 abilities to repairs for ammo?
+ supply drop which is good, but combined with 2 others ammo abilities means you cannot use them, unless you don't want mines, molos or at nades.

I can imagine KV2 being very good in many other, already existing doctrines, for example put it in defensive doctrine in exchange for M-42.

Better then before but still need some tweaks to be comparable to IS-2 or ISU-152 in efficency.

Otherwise, comes too late, mediocre in every way, ISU is more attractive, etc.

Maybe if it didn't cost as much pop as an IS-2 more people would get it. But I would say the same about most of the soviet armor being so high on pop needs.

Or fast conscription. SU have lot usуless crap.

Lowering CP value and price could work with current performance, ISU and IS will be real heavies of SU and KV-1 and KV-2 heavies for poor, more accessible and cheap. KV-1 something like 960-1040hp and slightly better RoF 8-9CP, KV-2 550-600mp 160-200fu 10-12CP. We have 11cp Sturmtiger that cost 560mp 160fu and have +240hp (+400 with vet2) in current patch, so KV-2 is like +3cp +70mp +70fu, even AVRE is much more accessible, and bouth of them have much better shock value than KV-2.

We tested it yesterday in 4v4 (on steppes) 2 Soviet industry 1 USF 1 Brit. vs 3 OKW 1 Ostheer. Was fun game that was really close (allies win).

The KV2 is amazing to lock down territory. Its great vs vet5 volk blob en KT spam meta. 240 damage and a lot of penatration. Only real counter to it is JT (wich they got, but was to late, and under constant pressure). We had 2 KV2's in siege mode at the top/ mid VP's supported with Kat and Jacksons.

Another thing to do is build the repair stations behind the KV2 in siege mode >unkillable. Its like hullingdown KT with mech building behind it :foreveralone:

What? CAS/Luftwaffe and goodbay KV-2. Or any other powerful off map with flares or recon for sight.
Penetration is really, really shitty - 160 on max range - but that's fine since it does not have different shells.

No, it has 6secs, no matter if vetted or not :P
It does not have any bonuses for reload.
Still, it can't hit anything.

Panther won. Why? Becasue shells were smashing ground around it all the time. Sure, it's RNG but agasint moving target it's not very accurate.

I definitely agree with chipwreckt,since its buff its actually useful now.
In a 1vs1 its very situational but when the map and time has come it can easily turn the side or grant victory,especially close to the enemy base sector.

That doesnt matter.Why? Because its incredibly strong against inf and tanks.Looking in a vacuum where KV-2 doesnt properly get supportet by at least 1 scout unit and some AT weapons behind to protect from ballsy tank hunters is not really a good evidence.

It has some RNG flavour but nonetheless a bit micro input and it will deal a lot more consistent dmg even against moving targets.

Update your game, you're about 20 months of patches late.
Its scatter is HUGE, it hardly wipes anything at the moment regardless of mode.

the biggest issue for me is actually the lack of shock or guards.

trying to make due with penal is ... not fun.
