Haha you're not allowed to take my quote of of context.

I just meant personally the game never lost its shine, sometimes I wonder if I have a mental problem. I did sink maybe 500 hours into coh2 though so to say I didn't give it a fair shot is not true :)

If relic thought us one thing, its to NEVER underestimate their power of making completely unreasonable or plain retarded decisions.


And if being on this board has taught me anything it's never to underestimate the Communities ability to concoct the worst possible interpretation of anything relic does, including doing nothing

If they implement custom commanders, it'll be the final nail in the coffin for what little competitive edge CoH 2 enjoys.

I don't care how confident they are that this system can be balanced, because it won't be. People will find more exploits and overpowered combinations. This doesn't bode well.

Building a custom doctrine could be balanced by assigning a weight or a tier to a unit or ability. Its not rocket science folks.

All they probably need to do is categorize certain abilities. For example: ISU = heavy, IS2 = heavy, Tiger = heavy.

Then, cap 1 category per commander. So you can have something like: 1 offmap ability, 1 infantry call-in, 1 heavy etc etc.

This is a simply a rough draft idea, but to be fair the current commanders are already just mix and match similar abilities so this is actually giving some people more choices. Maybe I don't like shocks and I like guards, so I get guards, and as long as they let you see what your opponent can field before a battle you can have an idea of what to expect.

I think it could be cool and would definitely bring some really interesting variation.

This could be amazingly great. This could wreck balance. This could be all things in between.

Personally I think they will do everything they can to prevent the opness of a given combo. They know the game better than us. They made it.

Probably will be kinks to work out. the same Chinese kid who figured out the captain America bug will find some op combo and they'll snuff it out.

I'm gonna say it. I'm sorry.

I'm excited for this.

This is going to open up a new tactical depth to the game. Not only must you command your army....you must design it.

After ready this forum people still wonder why relic doesn't tell the player anything. To many people jump the gun and issue verdicts on things they only know like 5% about. God forbid we wait to see all the facts.

I have another concern;

What happens to the default commanders?


Are they now entirely and 100% outclassed by custom commanders?

Why would I ever pick spearhead when I can replace splitterbomb with stuka dive bomb and use 'custom spearhead'?


Or, replace G-43 rifles with recon overflight in Elite Troops?


(not 100% a rant post, I'm genuinely interested in how this might work)

I'd envision that the doctrines that exist now would go away. Why keep them around when you could just build them?

This can break the game. All custom commanders will be the same. People will create custom commanders like this: on field Arty + munitions/fuel drops + heavy call in

Yea, sure you can make your own commander but you have only low CP, and useless abilities so you must use defualt ones.

Point is, it should be very, very hard to get all abilities you want.

If only commanders weren't restricted to 5 abilities each

We could have a total of x points to spend, with each ability costing a different value

Noobs could choose 2 OP, lategame abilities thinking it would give them victory, but pr0s would select 4-7 different abilities suiting their gamestyle

That would be interesting enough I think
