Hi,
I have a short question. What we do with the T-70 in game ? I can´t see him on the battleground since the update. Thats because T 3 costs 140 fuel and needs a realy long time to build up, when you got T 3 there is no reason wy you should build the T-70 because for the early german cars it´s simply to late and the Pz4 is already on the field. So how I can use the T-70 in a usefull way ? I liked him rather because he comes "Early" and stops the German Flamertruck but now there is no way to use him anymore :(

I also feel the role of the T70 has diminished since the changes to tech cost. It is very effective vs infantry, and if you already have say an AT gun, T34, and Guards, you could consider throwing a T70 into the mix to help take out infantry.

The problem is being so close in fuel cost to the T34, most people opt for the more rounded T34.

Relic needs to make it an attractive unit again.

I find T-70 pretty ineffective for anything else then disposing of remaining armored cars.

M5 quad does much better job at dealing with infantry and actually kills stuff on the move.

A light tank and a medium tank with the same roles and a 30 fuel 120(?) gap... Currently, everyone would go make t34's straight away, because as you said Germans already have the PIV out. The T70 was mainly made to play in the mid game before late game medium tanks comes out to harass the light armor before real German AT rolls out. This situation only happens within soviet t3, so it doesnt really belong in t3 anymore if you can get a tougher alternative at the same time for a little more. I hope the armor patch fixes all soviet tanks so they are in viable locations in t3 and t4, and useful in the game. (Currently Su-76m is on the list of rarity, and t-70 just landed on that list as well. A switcheroo in tiers with those two and changes to the su-76 seem like one way to fix their purposes.)

i agree. relic increased fuel requirement of sov t3 and t4(with increase in german tech costs) to "slow down the introduction of medium to heavy vehicles", they must've forgot that sov has light vehicles in t3 and t4(su76).

It's not good enough to be in T3, but too good to be bumped down to say T2 because that would mean it was availible at the start

The only people I see building it are the AI

Or maybe have it availible as a T60 or T38 in Tier 2, but with an upgrade to T70 you can only do when T3 or T4 has been built (as happens for the FHT)

Make its reload time way longer, reduce the fuel cost to 30.

Imo soviet T3 needs to be a lot cheaper fuel wise, that is both the building and the units. If we fix the T-34 at where it is right now, the building itself shouldn't cost much more than T2. If additionally fuel cost is lowered by 20 fuel, it could be used vs. german T2. The MG truck could see some use on par with the OH HT.

SU76 and M5/T70 needs to be decreased 0.5 on tech. Making T3/T4 unlocks it´s tanks in the form of a HQ upgrade could work.

I would only go T70 when i did see a commitment to T2 in 221/HT but since the 221 has now just a 10 fuel cost, it´s not worth it unless you have a nice lead.
It´s more reliable to do damage and harass rather than a T34. That´s it.

There was a good thread here before (cant find it now) on how to make it useful by changing the soviets tech-system to a more coh-PE-like.

Good idea, what we really need is a T-70 that will lose guaranteed to a 222 but only cost 30 fuel on top of the 140 you already spent.

That does seem like the simplest solution. Reduce t3 and t4 back to 90 fuel each, and in both buildings have a 50 fuel building upgrade that unlocks the t34, and a 50 fuel upgrade that unlocks the cat and the su85 together.

It would be cool if a proper fuel cost could be found that made it viable to build t3, not upgrade it, and then build t4, but it would be hard to justify making the fuel investment less than it was pre-patch for t70s or su76s.

Su-76 needs a little make over, no one would still build it and instead just skip to the 50 fuel upgrade.

In the game's code, the Soviet's buildings are explicitly the same as the USA.

Tier 1 is called 'BARRACKS'
Tier 2 is called 'WEAPONS_SUPPORT_CENTER'
Tier 3 is called 'MOTOR_POOL'
Tier 4 is called 'TANK_DEPOT'
(This info from the Soviet.ai file in Data.sga)

Clearly they're trying to fit the Soviets into the same framework as the USA. After all, it makes sense. If you moved Sniper to T2, ZiS to T3, and swapped the SU-76M for the T34/76 your T1 would have your Rifleman Squad (Penals) and your Jeep (M3), Tier 2 would have your MG, Mortar, and Sniper, Tier 3 would have your 57mm (ZiS), M3 HT (M5), Greyhound (T70), and Tier 4 would have your Sherman (T34), M10 (SU-85) and rather than a Croc (KV-8) you get the Calliope (Katyusha) there.

All it'd take is a major reduction in cost for the Motor Pool as opposed to the Tank Depot ala CoH1 and you could easily fit the units into the framework that Relic was clearly using. Especially if they added other global upgrades.

Edit: Note that in the AI file for the Germans, the Germans do not have the same names or structure as the Wehrmacht in vCoH. Interesting how the Germans are an all-new faction building wise (with things like DOLCH_AKTIONEN) while the Soviets are using all the USA's terminology.

I'd prefer it if there was one tank building that was cheaper and gave halftrack, T70 and the SU76. Then that building could have additional unlocks to get the kat, 34 and 85.

The Idea to raise the soviets T-3 and T-4 building costs to a total of ridiculus 100+ fuel more is one of relics worst "great ideas" among many many others that they ever had.
