Port forwarding new steam version

Port 6112 or whatever it is has been forwarded on my system firewall and through the router but I still cannot play online. What do I need to do to get it working, I haven't been able to play CoH1 online at my place since I got this stupid new router so if I can't get it working with this thing I'm just fucked because its mandatory with the new cable+phone+net bundle I have.
