I just recently had a 4v4 game where I decided to play the defensive commander. My original idea was to go T1 and use penals, then supplement later with the support weapons. Then I slapped myself because I realized that the DsKha and 120MM are manpower intensive and I quickly changed my mind.
So, instead of building T1 and going for penals, I went for this:
con, T1, sniper, con, con
It was quite slow starting off (maybe I should have delayed my T1 and sniper until I had built a second conscript?) but I think that the combo of conscript staying power + sniper offensive capability allowed me to hold my own long enough (and prevent enough bleed) to bring out a Dshka and light AT gun, which allowed me to go for a somewhat fast T70 (obviously the fuel that would have gone into a scout car went into nades instead.)
Ultimately I had a lot of fun, because it's not very often that you get to mix sniper play with conscript play. I like that the Defensive commander facilitates you to be able to do that without compromising the speed you get out a T70.
Plus, it has Anti-Tank Overwatch for those really really tank-heavy lategame slugfests.
All in all I thought it was quite fun and I was glad I used my supply to get it. Your thoughts?
SOV Defensive commander pretty fun in 4v4?
