You are absolutly right. My friend plays this game a month and got matched with me against chris19. This dude is elo ranked 6th with okw. Cant be right.

Not gonna tell you that it's balanced skillwise but you have to notice that ranks don't translate 1:1 between faction and specially modes. AT vs random differs and in most ELO systems, parties are valued higher.
Let's take the 385 UKF random 2v2 player 385/2466 and you guys are 1159/8218.
That's pretty equal.
If we go by level
UKF: lv12
SU: lv13
Party: Lv13
If anything, the match was in your favour rank wise.
