As US and OKW it usually comes down to macro mistakes. I just haven't played with the factions enough to be sure of what I want to do or how to counter an opponent's build.
As Ostheer I usually lose from micro when my mg is 2 degrees out of position and gets swarmed by rifles. Then my grens are forced to retreat and in one engagement my fate has been sealed. So yeah.... |
Luvnest, wouldn't you say that while they may ultimately lose the engagement, they'll still cost-effectively fight riflemen at range considering their lower cost, especially given their higher rate of veterency gained?
That isn't the whole story. If the U.S. player wins the engagement and forces you to retreat, who cares about the vet and the reinforce cost? God forbid you lose your cut off as Ostheer early game, good luck getting it back. |
So I've been experimenting with different Ost doctrines and I found it difficult to gauge the effectiveness of close the pocket (encirclement) and sector artillery (festung support). What are you opinions on these strikes? Are they ever worth it for their cost or should I save munitions to use elsewhere? |
But for the rest I think 2 mg42s adn 2/3 grens is the strongest opening on most maps for 2v2 at least.
For 2v2 maybe, but for 1v1 that build is complete suicide. Not only are you sacrificing major capping power but without a friend to support you your mgs are going to get flanked left and right. Especially considering that a gren squad can't beat a rifleman squad at any range. |
I'm all for more Eastern front! VCoh only focused on the battle of Normandy, and Ardennes assault was obviously narrow in focus as well.
I feel like relic did a poor job trying to squeeze the entirety of the Eastern theater of the war into one short campaign(never mind the fact that the missions themselves were pretty dull).
With Ardennes assault relic proved that they are still capable of delivering high quality campaign content with engaging game play and story for the complete package. Think about what they could do by focusing on telling the story of one battle, like Stalingrad or Kursk. I'd love for them to expand upon the campaign map system of Ardennes to create something really cool. And I'd like to be able to play as the Germans, of course. |
Very good game that was down to the wire. I thought we both played well but maybe I'm just a noob so don't listen to me. |
(In reference to 1v1s) I generally believe that OKW is the strongest faction. There are a lot of other reasons for this that other people have gone over already so I won't repeat them all here.
What seems to be happening is that the U.S. has been and still needs improvements to combat the OKW, which then has left and will continue to leave Ostheer very far behind. Not sure how the Soviets fit into this because I don't play them as much, but popular opinion seems to be that they're suffering from this system as well. Of course it isn't as easy as nerf one faction, buff the next because there are a lot of complex mechanics and strategies at play here. |
I'm happy to announce that balance in Coh2 is absolutely perfect.
Since you guys like numbers, here's one to back up my claims: 5
I'm glad we're all in agreement. I'll be crying in the corner if you need me. |
I'd like to see the introduction of other large jungle animals. Sure we have panthers and tigers, but what with the current meta these big cats are probably feeling a bit lonely. Lions would make a nice addition to smooth out the mid game for the OKW and the Soviets are really hurting for a gentle but giant Panda Bear(not actually a cat, but pandas are members of the raccoon family which some people keep in their houses as pets) in the late game to really turn the tides. Of course the balancing challenges would be quite large but not insurmountable. |
I'm tired of people blobbing these blobbing threads, why aren't there any mechanics in place on coh2.org to punish these thread blobbers?
Unfortunately, the coh2.org developers blatantly allow blobbing to continue in this forum. It's always been a problem but the introduction of new players to the community has only made it worse. I fear that this blibbity blab will forever blemish our battles. |
