Thread: April 24th Patch Notes Discussion 24 Apr 2014, 04:50 AM ISU and IS-2 may become the god tanks. The ISU got big buffs everywhere, and after some simple judgement, i think the IS-2 had its AT AND AI buffed. It deals 2/3rds the normal damage 1/3rd of the time faster (scatter is only twice as bad at MAX range). It gains 15 frontal armor, but loses 20 rear armor. (205 rear armor is still a ton!) It gains 50 pen, and overall, it costs even cheaper. All you have to do is wait one more cp than usual. I have a feeling the new tank gun profiles will make a big difference on these tanks, so they wont look too op. The IS-2 would have more pen than the Tiger (It always has, but the gap between their pen is a tid bit bigger; AKA favoring IS-2), so i have a feeling the tiger will have better penetration and accuracy at long range compared to the IS-2's shots at long range. So basically, Soviet tanks hugging german tanks = win. In: COH2 Gameplay

Distance scatter max from 2.86 to 5.7 And each shot does 160 damage now. It will be better than before, still somewhat of a higher chance (than before) of surviving an IS-2 shell. Better than nothing, and an IS-2 still has to be known for good AI. Isn't 80 hp per model? German and soviet snipers have about 40 hp per model. Current/old IS2: 240 damage shell + 4 man (40-80 hp each man) German squad = near wipe every time. If the squad decides to huddle, then the entire squad gets blown to bits. Squad wipes should be rare, and 2-3 models killed should become the new average, as opposed to 3-4. That still is a lot, but it should be enough for the squad to retreat with something left. The general idea is that no infantry should stick around the IS-2, and heavy AT components are necessary to kill it. 1/3rd faster reload is a pretty big buff imo, so on the battlefield, the IS-2 repels infantry even better, as well being able to combat tanks even better than before. Sounds fun for the Soviets, not so fun for the Germans. This patch seems to have seen some cost efficiency for the Soviets. In: COH2 Balance

" why the stug III G will have to be better against infantry? it is not his role...its role is tank hunters! the assault gun is in case the stug III E as it will be more powerful against the t34 if the same has taken better armor and armor penetration and the stug lost it? I am still confused on the role of the su-76M... no one is going to buy it just for the free barrages. Its current pen is the same as the t34/76 and it carries the ZiS-3 gun. Buff soviet T3 units,increase its cost To make German and soviet T3 both has its own advantage, now P4 cant just kill the T34 and run away like a boss, combine arm and tactical movement is more important. however, onething, i am confused is IS2 does same damage as T34/76? maybe someone will spam t34 like a boss after patch. The IS-2 still has its AoE, I think, so it still has a big splash (with much larger scatter though). However, its reload time was decreased by a third to compensate. The main goal was to keep it from one-shotting squads, but still be very effective in destroying squads as well as battling other tanks. In: Lobby
Thread: "One-shot-wipe-potential"23 Apr 2014, 23:37 PM IS2 damage is being decreased by 80 damage, meaning one shotting should be less frequent, but i am assuming AoE is the same. (scatter increase as well) As for the ISU-152, it looks the same. One shotting also has a counterpart: eating squads alive with high dps, frequent shots. But that only affects infantry as it is only made by infantry. In: COH2 Balance

Everything German is still worth stealing by the Soviets. Super fast mortar shots, MG with wide arc, very useful pak tank killer. T34's seem like they will wreck Stug III G's that aren't supported. You will need something to spot for the Stug to kill tanks at range. Less armor, health, and pen (as well as cost) means it is more of an assault gun than a TD. I will wonder how it will play.
