I know there have been many threads about the G43 v. LMG42 upgrade, but, in the game's current state, does the LMG42 make the grens scale better late game than the G43? Which do people prefer?
I use Elite and/or Lightning War most of the time (got the latter in a war spoils drop. YES!) so I usually have the G43 option, and tend to choose them because they are cheaper.
Is it a good idea to have 1 Gren with LMG42 as a fire support, and have the G43 grens cover-hopping?
Lastly, I'd prefer 1v1 advice, but if you've got tips on 1v1 and 2v2 feel free to share.
I was quite mad during this game, screaming curses at the screen and banging my fist against the desk that my computer sits on.
It all started when I lost two gren squads on retreat to shock troops... mostly my fault, but I was winning then, despite the losses. As more squad wipes occurred, I became increasingly mad, until, finally, I had a P4, Ostwind, and a Tiger Ace.
needless to say, the Soviet base was rubble at the end and I had exacted my revenge.
Very gg, though.
Intense and bloody 1v1 on Road to Kharkov. Very desperate fighting, trying to kill each other's units... I won in the end by crazy Ostwind preservation and stalling for a tiger as well as some late game flanks.
I think I'm going to the Nuremberg trials because I killed two ambulances
Your rank must be pretty low, then. In the 40,000s? It's a shame. I hardly ever pray, but I acknowledge them so I do half-decently...sometimes. (No offence intended)
Nothing like kicking off a loss streak with 2 1v1s against Cataclaw and VonIvan
First off, is there one supreme RNG God, or are their many RNG Gods. If yes to the latter, is the word "Gods" still capitalized?
If I pray to the RNG Gods/gods/God, may I still take communion at mass every Sunday? (If you are a Protestant, I do not want your input. Sorry). Will I go to hell for praying to the RNG Gods/gods/God?
Is there a certain ratio of the amount of squad wipes or game losses I must make as unintended sacrifice to the RNG Gods/gods/God for me to feel their presence? Is the ratio exclusive to some things? Like, Grenadier wipes from ISU-152 count, but TM-35 wipes do not (because my men were being stupid and standing in jerk circle, holding hands going around a wooden fence and crossing a road)?
I have two positive experiences with the RNG God/gods/God that I recall:
1) Kholodny Ferma Winter, during a blizzard; a G43+MG42 gren squad behind the green wall in the middle (from left base) wiped a full health sniper team advancing over red cover and had just come into view. I heard two G43 shots, then saw two rolling bodies opposite them at the intersection (by the felled logs as light cover, 30m or so away.
2)Full health P4 vs. T34/76 in the southwest of Langreskaya Winter... This must have been in April when the T34 could actually damage things heavier than a 222 scout car. My P4 got 3 shots off on the T34 when the last two of the T34s shots bounced; either one of them could have killed the P4.
Please, take some time to honestly answer the questions:
Does the Obersoldaten's STG 44 upgrade really give them benefit at close range? The description says it's long range and would make sense both practically and historically. A huge weight on the top of an assault rifle isn't so great in cqb, and the Russians reported accurate nighttime sniper fire later in the war from hundreds of meters, attributed to the vampir IR sights.
In old CoH, it flat wasn't possible to micro units in buildings; is it different in CoH2? I haven't noticed any difference, and the old "First unit in a building to distract the MG, second can run right in without being targeted" tactic still seems to work fine.
By micro I just meant pick targets/use abilities while in buildings. I always thought I had to select the unit in the building, then order it to shoot at the unit I wanted it to shoot at, but my MG would always leave the building. But one only needs to select the building, not the unit. I was thinking the opposite of your last sentence; two units on the ground can split the MGs fire. You can send an RE first, followed by a rifle squad from a different direction that can slip past the MG using heavy cover and shot blockers.
