Thread: Uses for Mechanised Groups28 Feb 2014, 23:01 PM I think the mechanized grenadier group is just too expensive. Normal halftrack costs 20 fuel, this thing costs 40. Gren squad + halftrack costs 240 + 120 mp = 360 MP, this call-in costs 560 in MP. It is too expensive, even though you don't have to pay the munitions for the LMG. I don't think 60 munitions equates to 200 MP since german reinforcement costs are quite high. It would be fun to try one of those but even though I have picked the commander that comes with that call-in I haven't been able to afford it. Variance is something that the ostheer has been lacking since day one, especially for me since I don't buy DLC commanders so this one could be a fun thing to experiment on. In: Ostheer Strategies

Thread: SNF / Halftrack27 Jan 2014, 21:17 PM Nerfing the HT as suggested (not being able to reinforce with the flamer upgrade) would make the unit pretty much useless without giving it some kind of armor buff. Even the best players lose the halftrack relatively quickly almost every game, it just simply doesn't survive. It is actually because of a) pathing issues b) armor weakness. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Countering Penal/early Guards combo21 Jan 2014, 18:47 PM What do you do if the opponent also has a sniper combined with guards and / or penals? If he has guards, you can't really do anything with a scout car to kill his sniper... It is indeed much harder to deal with than shocks probably, since the sniper keeps your infantry away making your squad useless at fighting just after one shot. No thanks... not a very good trade-off. And most likely you won't even take out the sniper like this, only the scout car. Not worth it. And also, getting early schrecks is very risky. If the soviet player calls in shocks while you have early schrecks it's gg right there. You won't have the munitions to buy flamer upgrade for your HT so the shock troops can just troll around anywhere they want. Other than the early schrecks, good advice though. In: Ostheer Strategies

At least against Shocks you can use flamer HTs... Against guards it's a sure-waste of 120 ammo. In 2v2s the soviets can use a certain strategy that is (IMO) uncounterable in the current patch. Which is ridiculous and definitely doesn't make me want to play many 2v2s as the ostheer. In: COH2 Balance
