sounds like what you (and probably many others)really want is a vcoh mod/expantion for coh2...that way you can just play the classic vcoh wehr vs vcoh US on the new engine =)

definitely agree w/ z3r07. Since patch feels impossible to win as ostheer against decently played soviet. huge losing streak. rank fell from like 300's to 800's lol
when i lose as soviets, i feel like its because i fucked up or just got outplayed; when i lose as ostheer, feels like game is broken.
hard to say exactly which change(s) is responsible... |
the new assualt gren bulliten gives +3% aim...does that mean the regular gren +3% aim will no longer effect assgrens? or will it stack w/ the assgren specific accuracy bulletin? |
...like it was in vCoh. Now that you can choose a commander at 0 cp, an errant click locks you in for the game. In vCoh you had to hit 'accept' after the 1st click. a similar functionality would prevent accidental commander selection.
hope its not just me =) |

if you dont see any sclown cars, then dont build any t2 vehicles, build a fuel cashe and get to t3 asap because a t70 is coming very very soon =).
in all other instances, expect su85s. for that you want shreck pgrens and a ht to drive them behind the su85. mortar/mg/pak to push forward... there will be snipers picking at your mg/pak, so have grens pushing forward to keep sniper moving...if he has maxims, this becomes harder to coordinate, but thats why you have a mortar.

1. scout car vet 1 ability is your best friend. know where snipers are.
2. 2 gren (or more if you have em) squads must move forward at sniper, once within range, rifle nade the sniper, or even a bit behind him. |
Vs. a Soviet T3 rush this could get ugly. They'll field t70s and t34s vs your infantry which will totally push you off the map. Maybe you get lucky with a teller mine? Maybe you actually faust and actually hit a t70 with a Pak40. But, by the time you field an elephant, all it takes is one t34 RAM and you're done. But Maybe, just maybe, the cards will play right. That's too many maybes for me. =P
i think the OP was, rather obviously, reffering to a situation where you do not see a t70 or t34 for enough time to see that your opponent went t4 (or you see a 76) |
So i've been having trouble breaking through defensive soviet play heavy on T2/T3. Early game I can be totally on par, if not dominant, and i can get my p4 out close enough to the 1st t34. Generally i'm controlling most of the map until the 120mm mortar comes out, and gets supported w/ 1 or 2 AT guns, a maxim, and 1 or 2 t34s hanging back. From there, the russian player will slowly push out, and i get slowly picked apart - getting sloppy/inpatient and losing my flame ht, then infantry squads and sometimes p4s.
I try to drop smoke (either doctrine smoke, officer smoke, or mortar ht smoke) and then advance to take out the 120mm - and then i either fuck it up or it doesnt actually block LoS the way i expected (and even when i get my infantry in there, there are t34s hanging back waiting for them). I try to use the flame mortar ability from mortar ht, but also cant consistently capitalize on it. I've had some success w/ the strafe run, but again, not consistently. I've tried building the doctrine artillery gun and managed to get a good volley at the mortar/zis/maxim area, but then the cooldown is too long for it to be an efficient use of 600mp.
I generally open w/ 3x grens, 2mgs, and when i dont see scout cars i go for the flame ht, maybe pgren, and then t3 for a p4 or ostwind depending on whether russian has.
suggestions on how to deal with this better? replays? |
