Let's just say this;
In CoH1, two squads caught out in the open with no cover would mince eachother in a few seconds. This is what made strategic play and flanking rewarding.
Due to the durability of units(primarily infantry), that strategic play and flanking no longer even exists except where a set-up position is in play. My Grens can duke it out with Conscripts for unnaturally large periods of time. It bogs down gameplay, rewards nooby play and minimizes effort. |
First, I am not talking about the OP Ace one, and Relic should not buff IS2 to insane level because of the Ace.
Tiger should be fearsome, but now it's performance is just like a fatter overpriced panzer 4, without decent penetration and splash damage, slow firing and slow maneuvering. Stalin infantry can even dance in front of it.
IS2 can now one shot squad wipe, one shot killing PAK, that's not reasonable. Even the Tiger Ace cannot do that.
People complained more about the IS2 and Relic has had a history of incompetent balance designers.
That should just about cover it. |
Pay2Win commanders, and don't tell me they're not. The only truly competitive and viable commanders are the DLC ones.
Buying veterancy was fine in CoH1 when that was the only way Wehrmacht ever got it. |
As long as paying commanders are beatable by non-paying commanders, it is not pay2win
Not accurate in the slightest. |
I find it amusing that people keep discussing this in context of fostering a competitive scene. No, excessive RNG just fosters completely shitty gameplay. Out of all the things holding CoH2 back from a competitive gaming scene, believe me, RNG is not one of them. |
ITT: People who do not know what Pay2Win is.
DLC Commanders are definitively Pay2Win. If you're going to try and make the distinction between "Pay4Advantage" and "Pay2Win" you might as well try tell me the difference between getting violently raped and "it's just the tip".
Steps to check if it's pay2win.
1. Can you pay for it?
2. Can you unlock it without money?
3. Does it provide options that non-paying players do not have?
4. Do any of these options provide any kind of advantage in any kind of situation?
If;
1 = Yes
2 = No
3 = Yes
4 = Yes
Your game is pay2win. Easy. |
Bad game. Nothing in it is balanced. Too many bugs. Servers are shit. |
Same points made hundreds of times before and always ignored. Just accept the RNG. It is not going anywhere. |

Your first mistake was building infantry. |
The sum total cost of all DLC in this game is more than an Expansion Pack yet it is not nearly 1/4 the amount of content required to justify that price. Looking at the commanders, more than 2/3 the abilities are just the same shit from commanders we already have and then put into the new tree with one new ability(sometimes).
The amount of effort that went into developing these commanders is virtually nil. They're not worth my money because it wasn't worth their time to develop. Some would say that I should not buy it and that will send a message. Unfortunately, it wont, because there are too many idiots in the world who will buy it and defend it and excuse this until their death, even though it inexcusable. Games attract the shittiest consumers on this planet and it's because of these people we have poorly made products.
I pre-ordered this game in an act of good faith with Relic. I pre-ordered this game even when all my friends told me it was simply a money grab and that it would be a piece of shit. I pre-ordered it despite the fact I knew there would be problems on release for weeks, maybe months.
The only title I can equate Relic's betrayal to me is Rome II - at least their development team is competent enough to recognize how much of a monumental fuck up its release was and has been putting out a ridiculous amount of patches since. There are none of the required release features. At all. The game has taken a roll back in some basic features(Numbers of players search). The game has TOTALLY BUTCHERED CoH1 essential features.
This game is not what I signed up for when I heard "Company of Heroes 2". It is a total betrayal of the franchise, it is a total betrayal of its core userbase, and it's a total break in faith for all those who put their trust in Relic. If I could pursue a refund for this game I would. I guess I simply will have to settle for not playing it.
I had faith in Relic. I even bought the first round of DLCs, thinking it'd be a once off and they wouldn't release such shitty content again. And yet here we are.
Fuck this game. Fuck Relic. Fuck the people who defend them.
And I've played every Relic release. Ever.
