Thread: Land Matress Commander10 Feb 2016, 19:56 PM Commander not even out yet and it's OP. Seems legit. Still worse than the croc commanders for 1v1. Still worse than arty cover for team games, until arty cover receives its well deserved nerf. The cover thing is cool, the commandos are cool, flamers are nice on the right maps but the land mattress seems meh. (Unless it has received an overhaul) In: COH2 Balance

This is not what I believed was the outcome of the decision last week however. To my knowledge Luvnest also played in NA this week so i'm a bit confused as to what's actually going on here. We discussed a lot of stuff behind the scenes and I think everyone might have jumped the gun a bit on telling the community what happened... Here is how I understand it: The January monthly cup was not region locked because the whole set of Jan cups were not. Starting with the first cup in February (this past Sunday) they region locked EVERYTHING to NA / EU. The weekly cups and thus the monthly cups. So going forward only NA players can play in NA events and only EU players can play in EU events. Simple as that. Maybe I am wrong and Kyle/ESL can correct me. Other options discussed were, in my opinion, awkward and confusing. In: Events Central

I just like that more NA players are going to be motivated to play in NA without the people who get knocked out of EU coming in and sweeping everything. We all know EU is the significantly stronger region, seeing the same winners in both cups would get old. Despite NA having weaker players I think the matches are more up in the air. No one player in the NA region is as dominant as Luv, Jes, Barton have been so far. In: Lobby
Thread: New region restrictions for ESL6 Feb 2016, 17:12 PM I think the community can do a good job of self-policing. Plus Relic has logs from their battle servers of where each player is located (you can see this on Relic leaderboards). I guess some one could make a new smurf account, use a good paid VPN service to game the system... but that is a lot of extra work just to play in both regions - but if some one really wants to, they will. I don't think the system is intended to be perfect but to start to address the issue of EU players having a significantly easier time playing in both EU and NA (also causing additional NA no-shows) than NA players playing in both cups. It is good for ESL and for the community I think. EU will remain the stronger region by a wide margin, and probably become even more competitive. NA could become more of a "minor leagues" where newer competitive players have a chance to make a name for themselves. The whole "welp I lost EU ESL this week, let me go sign up for NA even though I live 5,000 miles away" was a tad silly and really defeated the purpose of having two distinct regions. In: Lobby
