I'm not really sure what you're talking about. The vast majority of the feedback from people who know what they're talking about (plus people like me) has been "CoH 2 has a lot of problems, some stuff is super broken, Relic really needs to fix this stuff if they want it to be a good game." Of course, if you try that stuff on the beta forums you get shouted down by idiots half the time, but here on CoH2.org there is only a small minority of people who are genuinely happy with how things have turned out.
I honestly have absolutely no idea what is going on here in this thread. Something about a duck? or maybe a mallard...
I'm not trying to win any hearts and minds here. I'm just expressing my...well my bewilderment about this site's overall reaction to the game. I, personally, really enjoyed the beta. I couldn't get enough of it. So that's why I'm bewildered. As I said in my original post, it's my opinion.
Remember in January when they said the beta was all ready to go, and they just needed the OK from THQ? Maybe this was basically the same beta build to test servers, performance etc. But there are many things fixed on the in-house build. THat way, there would be 1 month of dev time between the alpha and beta.
I haven't followed the whole topic so I'm not going to discuss the points you guys are making, but this is just wrong. While I could agree that the second game was one-sided, the first one clearly wasn't. Just watch it again: in the early game they almost completely pushed us off the map and took us down to 34 VPs (against their 485), and both our strategies revolved around getting the opponent's cut-off; they pushed for our cut-off early, we pushed them off and then took their cut-off. And their loss is more due to the fact that they relied on a single piece of heavy armor to deal with our whole army than anything else. Had their IS-2s been supported by a couple SU-85s and conscripts to prevent rams (and T-34s of their own?) things wouldn't have gone that way.
Had the ridiculous upkeep not been there you guys would have lost the first match.
Not to say they didn't fuck up when you guys came back. Because they did. Badly
Germans have mortar, arty field officer, mortar halftrack, Panzerwerfer, and some might count the Brummbar. Russians have mortar, heavy mortar, Katyusha, and that on-map arty thing.
Germans have a doctrinal on map equivalent too, no one ever uses it though.
