So to add, the Gren+Panzergren infantry line up at the moment works a lot better than the Riflemen + double BARs thing. So you don't really have an infantry advantage to press without going Paratroopers. Even Rangers seem to preform poorly against this stock line-up.
Brits do seem to fare better if you get the super expensive bolster upgrade, and double Brens are not overly expensive.
Soviets seem to be able to manage the best.

From a 1v1 perspective this is probably the best stock infantry unit. Now I'm guessing they modified this unit because of survivability problems in 3v3 and 4v4 games where MGs become less effective since they're easier to flank. I hate when they do that though because they usually end up screwing things up for 1v1 games.
Fighting OST in 1v1 matches is pretty tough right now. If someone is building 3-4 Gren sqauds they're going to wipe the floor with Riflemen, Conscripts, and definitely 4-man Infantry Sections.
Penals do well against them, and the Penal+Scout Car and Flamethrower Combat Engineers will overcome the Grens+MG42 spamming.
Is this still a 240mp+60muni unit? Kinda ridiculous they're wiping much more expensive units.

It would be better and help you counter the ridiculously OP MG42s if not for the crutch Panzergrens (which arrive WAY too early, negating your infantry advantage and ending any viability of light vehicles).
Works pretty well against OKW but they'll always have the extra man power for two raketens so always got to remember that. |
USF has second-worst unit and tech costs of any faction, the one worse is UKF. 70 munitions and you can only get one is simply not worth it. It costs a shit load of resorces just to keep your head above water with this faction so why pay more if you don't have to? |
UKF has an incredibly unreasonable amount of side techs (some of which are also unseasonably priced) that should go bye-bye. The main one is probably bolster. 35 fuel for this is absurd, even more absurd it's placed behind T2. The community by and large has wanted to neuter this faction and they've without a doubt done it ovwr the last few patches. |
OST or OKW are the easiest factions. With OST being a little bit easier than OKW because of lacking side techs, getting powerful units much sooner and cheaper than other factions.
From my POV, generally speaking the difficulty of factions from easiest to hardest at the moment are:
OST
OKW
SOVIETS
USF
UKF
Athough Soviets and OKW I think are pretty comparable, I give the edge to OKW because they get much better infantry units with certain commanders and have better late game armor.
This is all from a 1v1 perspective mostly. Things change some going to 3v3 and 4v4 but I play less of that. I think the tweaks made to OST and OKW to make them more competitive in larger games has made them a bit more powerful than they should be at the 1v1 level reletive to USF and UKF at least. |
USF's issue lately is a lot of overly expensive garbage-tier units and excessive tech costs.
Some examples of garbage-tier units costing too much:
Rear Echelon Troops
Pathfinders
Assault Engineers
M2 .50 cal HMG (not garbage-tier but overpriced)
M3 half-tracks (not garbage-tier but overpriced)
M20 Scout Car
Excessive tech costs
250 MP and 35 fuel for CPT or LT plus another 20 fuel and 50 before unlocking vehicles and making available tech to Major. That's 55 fuel and 300 MP just for that then another 120 fuel and 180 MP to get to Major so 480 MP and 175 fuel to get to T3 without access to weapon upgrades, grenades, unit healing, and doing without access to an MG or AT gun. Pretty friggen steep fuel costs I'd say. |

Faction fanaticism is a hell of a thing. There was a guy on here once that claimed the elefant was one axis' multiple monsters and said its AI was too much. Some people just don't understand balance since they only play one side.
I heard there were people claiming OKW and OST were hard factions to play. That's hilarious. |
