I agree it needs help, but adding a cap ability isn't the way I'd go with it.
Its problems lie largely in the lack of mobility and fragility. For example I've found it to be a bit useless as a kubel counter simply because once the kubel loses about half or 3/4 health, it just reverses away to be repaired and the UC is too slow to chase. Meanwhile the damage the UC has taken simply can't be repaired until T2. Likewise it's never going to chase a sniper.
The fragility also makes the wasp a bit pointless, especially since the UC is simply deleted by any form of AT. The first sign you get of enemy AT is your UC blowing up.
The fuel cost being dropped was welcome, but it didn't address the issues the unit has really. |
It still amazes me that people think a "counter" to emplacements should be an absolute hard counter with no risk involved and no possibility of counterplay. You see it in every thread where emplacements are mentioned. |
It is a very odd one. Short range, long fuse and expensive. I can only guess it's meant to be used against static or near static targets.
As a historical aside the gammon bomb didn't actually have a timed fuse, it was an impact grenade. Can't imagine any way that would work in game though, so timed fuse it is. |
"Brits didnt had heavies but only churchill types, and most of their TD's were USA styled, weak armor, big guns"
King Tiger, 65t, 7in armour max ( though weak due to lack of suitable materials)
Tiger, 55t, 4.5in armour max.
Churchill VII 40t, 6in armour max
Panther 45t, 3in armour ~ 5 inch due to slope
Panzer 4 25t, 3in armour max
If 6 inches of armour doesn't make it a heavy then gawd knows what does.
If forget the in game stats but the PIV has similar armour rating to a Churchill and Panther and Tiger significantly more!
King Tiger: 375
Tiger: 300
Churchill: 240
Panther: 320
Panzer 4 (ost): 180
Panzer 4 (OKW): 234

They didn't know they were putting that stuff in, so they didn't record dialogue for it. Hell, go play a blizzard map with Brits, they use the Soviet announcer.
This isn't entirely true. I've heard a british cold weather announcer line when a bug triggered it a few patches ago (and it was on road to kharkov, so not a winter map). I can only assume it isn't used due to a bug.
More seriously though, the amount of generic lines with the brits is a touch disappointing. Some units (like the Sexton) simply use generic armour lines. I just hope they don't go down that route for their next full release. |
I was actually meant to be the player in that game!
I was searching, noticed it stopped for some reason. Only noticed that it had credited a game when I looked at recent matches under my playercard. |
Searched for a while, it stopped on its own - and for some reason has credited me with a win for a game I never started. It didn't even try to load. |
In the latest build, according to TAB players you CAN USE the Concentration barrage through the fog of war.. Relic ninja remove?
Just tested it and you're right - nice catch!
Glad to see it too, it was pointless without blind fire capability (and it's arguably still pointless due to the howitzers, but I'll take what I can get at the minute). |
A better question is why the ISG has such high accuracy at max range. |
Since the brits now have a faction with somewhat viable artillery in the land mattress, I can only hope this commander isn't forgotten about.
Likewise, compared to the counter battery ability in the emplacements doctrine the concentrated barrage from royal artillery looks incredibly weak. The counter battery is firing the same shells, but it will fire into the fog of war to hit its targets and the sheer volume of shells makes up for the poor accuracy (assuming that the axis don't bother to move that is...).
I'd heard that Relic are looking at the 25 pdrs to make them more useful. I'd hope that the sexton isn't forgotten about if and when they do that. |
