Also an idea would be to somewhere point out that it is volunteer work and write some kind of segment about the "benefits" (in lack of a better word) of being on staff. Heard earlier that a problem on GR at least had been people not understanding what staff work is and therefore applying for the wrong reasons (moneeey™)
Seems that this site already got a well filled staff with a lot of experienced players and experienced staffers. I would throw my hat in the ring too though if you need someone for referee, writer and such things. Basically any task that doesn't require high amounts of experience and knowledge (coding, FP related work, strat specialist) but if you need a ref or a writer, I'd be happy to help out.
Just a quick suggestion on something I feel Gaming sites with staff usually lacks. For newer players/forum lurkers/forum warriors etc. the roles of the staff is not often explained (unless you happen to read a "we're recruiting!" news post) a good idea would to be in some way to explain what staff member do and give links to their profiles for PM'ing questions and such that doesn't fit on the forums. For example having a "staff" button for people to access and see who got what role on staff and what those roles do. I think it might make the site more accessible and make it easier to understand the structuring of the site. Only backside I guess would be that it would take up space and time to fix.
Anyway, just wanted to leave that suggestion for you to consider.
Having doctrines that you choose beforehand allows relic to expand on doctrines and make them impact the game even further than before. They can easily create 3 different styles and approaches to each faction and since only 2 factions will be featured in the game that variety will make it easier for new players/more casual players to play the game without getting bored at lack of content.
Sure it creates more match ups and make the game harder to balance, but the positive side of that is more creativity and variety can be put into the doctrines.
