Why do you say the Elefant is "broken"? Yes, the tiger template is easy to work with along with Panzer IV. Jagdtiger and Konigstiger are ok too except for parts along the side that are inverted or switched.
My least favorite template by far is the Stug3.
Nice work on your skin btw. Looks pretty slick. |
Nice video. Thanks for posting that. I may have to look into trying Substance out. Like shpongle, I also use PSD with 3dsmax.
Btw, another tip is to use layer masks...a lot. |
I reported it to Kyle the rip offs should be removed by now
Thank you very much! I appreciate you contacting Kyle and taking care of this matter so quickly.

How about this comparison pic?
His Calliope is on the left, mine on the right: Comparison2
I suppose I could keep doing this for more proof?
|
Dem T34/85s do look awfully similar. However, if da theme here is realism than none of the pic comparison prove anything. I did a quick google search on T34/85 camo paint jobs and both pics you posted portray a realistic looking paint jobs. You can't blame somebody for creating realism skins.
Before you start accusing anyone of stealing your pics, I suggest you sign your work (through steganography perhaps) and show proof dat your signature appears in his pics.
Just my 2 cents.
Ok. Thanks for the reply. I suppose the "proof" I've shown is not enough. How about this picture of "his" skins and mine:
His vs. Mine
This is just one small example of copy/paste of halftrack, sdkfz222, AA halftrack. I could post more. Do you need more proof?
In the T-34/85 comparison pic, you can see how I added little drops of wet white paint from painting the white line. Are you saying that he added that little detail as well? Exactly as I did? |
Hello Coh2 modding community. I am asking for your help in stopping a user from copying and pasting skins from my skin packs (along with fellow skinner Georider) into his own and claiming them as his on the workshop. I'm not sure what other steps need to happen other than report him on steam?
Here are the two skin packs he's released on the workshop:
Coh2 Realism Mod Skinpack for OKW and Wehrmacht
Coh2 Realism Mod Skinpack for Allies
In these he has directly copied and pasted from some of these skin packs of mine:
Assorted German Camouflages
Red Army
3-color summer camouflage
US Olive Drab
Some pics of "his" skins:
Copied skins
Mine is on the left, his is on the right:
T34/85
I've shown him pictures that these are direct copies or he has altered my skin by adding a number or removing numbers or slogans etc, and he refuses to comply. He has deleted most posts by those who are calling him out on his theft.
Georider is an equal victim as the other half of the skin packs are carbon copies of his skin packs.
Any suggestions other than report to steam?
Thanks for looking. |
Skins cannot really change the geometry, but they can change transparency. The basic texture maps that are painted include diffuse color, specularity, gloss, bump, and alpha. I expect that 99% of skins don't change the bump and alpha maps, but by carefully painting these you can create the effect of an open mesh like the ones on the side skirts pictured above. Removing a specific piece of geometry by painting the map to make it transparent is pretty easy.
Correct. Simply find the part of the model on the diffuse map you want to make "disappear", then paint it black in the alpha map. Pretty easy way to create the mesh side skirts, remove track guards, remove wheel on side of Hetzer, etc...
I'm pretty sure I had included the mesh skirts for the curated skin pack. However, I think Relic removed them unfortunately for the final release.
Btw, great job on the database CasTroy. Very helpful. |
Yep. Same problem. Release is ~72mb, whereas "curated" is over 377mb. Max allowable on workshop is ~200mb as you say, so... |
This is actually an issue I discovered later, but have not had time to correct in my video tutorials. I will try to make a new video this week, as I recently subscribed to the Pro version of Screen-Cast-O-Matic, allowing me to create longer videos.
Anyways, you will need two different burn settings, both "generic-image to data-rgt", with the following settings:
See if that helps. These Burn Settings expect _dif and _alp to be present, and/or _gls, _nrm, and _spc to be present. They are actually the default Burn Settings when using the wizard.
Great! Your Burn Settings worked perfectly. Thank you very much! Definitely saved me a bunch of time trying to get this to work. You are truly the "Master Modmaker".
btw, Just for reference, I'm using only the _dif and _alp files.
|
The _dif is just the diffuse, so no alpha channel is required.
The _alp is entirely white, with black on the areas you want to hide. So, you could probably set up the diffuse as the bottom layer, white as the middle layer, and black as the top layer. Hide the middle layer, so that you can draw the black using the top layer. When ready, hide the bottom layer and show both middle and top, then merge down for saving.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds easy enough, but....
I made an _alp.tga with white background and black "test" stripes along the side skirts:
_alp
I also have just a camouflaged _dif.tga with no alterations to the side skirts:
_dif
When I test in game it's as though it doesn't recognize the _alp that I made, because it just shows the _dif camo.
Here's a pic of my file setup along with the burn settings:
setup
Obviously I'm missing a key component in such a simple task. Perhaps I need the _nrm, _gls, and _spc files as well?
Thanks for your help! |
