Seriously, it looks like it just got sucked into the earth... |
I'm not sure what happened, I was a pretty competitive 1v1 player until August when I took a month off.
After the patch to infantry combat, and the removal of the health bulletins, something has changed for me. I can't compete. At all. Maybe it was also that the game's meta was still evolving and therefore strategy was more important.
But now having dropped 200 places I've realized I can no longer compete. Not fast enough. The game has devolved into nothing but constant nade/dodge, and the faster clicker is going to win.
I did have the tactics and micro (my vehicle micro is plenty good, and I still manage to win some games with that) to beat some of the faster clickers before, but they're useless now as I'm taking too much manpower damage. Can't execute a strat if you can't beat off con or gren spam and avoid as many nades as he does.
So I'm done. No more 1v1 for me, might still play some 2v2s and up where the game is more about teamplay, strategy and army composition, but I give up on 1v1. I know I'm not fast enough, but I really don't like what the game has become. I actually really liked the slightly slower pace before the last batch of patches - it made executing really good flanks and strats more important than pure nade-dodging ability and building hopping.
Just had to get that off my chest. And no, I won't let the door hit me on the way out.

I really like the idea of a check box for a longer wait time to get a better match as well. Bad matching is not fun for anyone. And maybe if you force the top players to play each other more, they will get all tired out and you might have a chance of winning!

Well, I doubt a redesign of Soviets is going to happen...But I hear things are interesting in the beta, which is only open to the cool kids unfortunately.
Those stats are interesting, but I'd like to see the intermediate levels, say rank 100-250. That ought to show that as skill decreases, Soviets are even more unwieldy.
|
Yeah, just a tiny player base.
I wish more upper intermediate skilled players were playing...But I have had the same thing, you get up to the top 100 or so, and you start hitting the warp speed multitaskers, so you quit 1v1 and go play 2v2 or something.

Nah, I just suck. Since they took away the good health bulletins and nerfed the MG into uselessness I just don't have the micro to play 1v1 I guess. I did reach 120 as Ostheer though, but now if you don't avoid a flame nade or whatever you take a ton more damage. Just not fast enough to beat the 15 year olds.
|
Here's another one, this is what not to do as Ostheer. I will keep uploading losses until I figure out how to better preserve units and somehow win games again. I will humiliate myself until I get better.

I finally get a game vs someone my skill level and I still can't hack it...
The constant conscript spam forced me to retreat over and over then he caps all vps with his almighty capping power...I got two PzIVs killed two T-34s, but couldn't hold shit for long. How do you manage this spam? I'm not a fan of MGs anymore because you can just walk right up to them and nade them anyway, it seems to get easier once they get vet.
Thanks I'm really stuck again I was doing pretty well for a while but I just can't deal with this conscript spam anymore now that PzIVs suck I guess.

Yeah, poor noobs, as if this game wasn't hard enough.
If I'd just bought the game I'd be spamming it all the time too. It says "combat effectiveness" after all.
C'mon, 32 byte patch Relic!

Unfortunately a lot of that flavor is impossible to achieve without the complex target tables that were unique to COH. The jeep/biking doing extra damage vs snipers was a prime example, one of the other most important ones was elite armor units taking extra flame damage, making flamers actually more powerful late game or against the OF factions. Bikes and jeeps got avoidance bonuses vs. AT guns making them useful for scouting too.
