Yeah, but ArchonHawk is right, I was floating MP and should have just backtecked to T2. I got fixated on a strategy and could have had a lot more map control if I'd have used some Pgrens, or as I like to call them, murderers.
Totally didn't occur to me, even watching the replay again, so thanks for that...We all have some holes in our thinking sometimes!

Yes, Kaitof, you're wrong there. In 2v2, the mobility of the M3 is king. It means I can force my opponent off the map then very, very quickly rush over to help my teammate. That means more map control, earlier, which means more resources, and in a game where teching is very fast, that means everything.
Also, a sniper in an M3 is much less vulnerable to a scout car then one on foot. The M3 can get to safety faster, and the sniper is much less likely to be meet an unfortunate death on retreat from pursuing units. |
If they ever fix the bug that you can't snipe the 2nd model out of the car...Things will look a lot different.
Oh, and I'm still against the extra manpower at start. I think that was a bad move. It does make early snipers much more viable as you're not sacrificing much in the way of capping power. We're used to it now, but watch some replays from before the patch to realize how much more of a high risk gamble even one sniper car was given your lack of map control.

Good job...but I must say B4 is a problematic unit. If the Germans don't have a doctrine with a Stuka bomb and recon, GG. Especially on Semois. Other maps you might be able to send something in to kill it, but not this map.
So, let this be a lesson to you 2v2 teams. Make sure to have a Stuka in your arsenal...
You also rammed a tank carcass around the 50 minute mark. I felt that was some sort of...violation. Do you have any necrophiliac tendencies?

inclined to agree here, going t1 w/o t3 or 4 and shock motor heavy tactics would make you highly vounrable to flamer halftracks. A strat like this would never work for me
I find the flamer halftrack very disappointing now. Every time I use it it's not doing enough damage to justify the brief moment of area denial it provides, given that it inevitably gets AT naded. Now you have to use it with an MG, and who's gong to stick around in that? So still no manpower damage. I much preferred when I could use it as a fast response vehicle.
Oh and thanks for another cast Dane!

I think the #1 culprit is staring at conscript squads trying to catch the Molotov toss.
I am so bad at it I actually zoom in and that's really headache inducing. So play only Soviets, see how that goes...

Amusing end game behavior. Hero PZiV...
An unholy trio of penals, snipers and shocks meet a battered and war weary German force. Did you know, dear noobs, that as Soviets you can spam 4 conscripts, the aforementioned unholy trio, 2 fuel caches and STILL have enough manpower for a KV8 and IS-2? Just retreat like your ass is on fire before you take MP damage. It's feasible.
Goddamn right we get a Tiger Ace.

Unless you want to become a better player, now is a good chance
Well, it's not possible. With 5 conscripts out, you are going to get flanked and have MP drain. Usually they are not taking nearly as much, and it's impossible to wipe Soviet squads. Nothing beats Vet 3 PPSH, so you are screwed.

I am totally in favor of a higher cost scout car in T1, but they would have to make it quite pricey - a sniper counter that early would be fair in the 260 - 280 MP range I think.
Plus I really want a scouting/blocking unit like the Wehrmahkt bike. I really want to be able to screw with conscript pathing and block them, instead of just having to run away every time I get flanked.

Yeah, it would be nice to see more ammo upgrades.
A big muni sink for Americans in vCOH was the M8, which cost a ton for armor skirts and a gun. I don't know why they didn't do something similar with the T70. You could upgrade it somehow to pre-nerf status, or give it an MG that could do light suppression like the M8 and drop uber mines, I would love to do that playstyle again. Remember driving an M8 next to a medic bunker and dropping a mine? Good times...
Shocktroops could need to buy their SMGs like Rangers, etc. There are lots of ways they could have given Soviets more interesting munitions-based upgrades.
Instead, what we have is conscripts. Conscripts with SMGs tossing Molotovs until we all have carpal-tunnel syndrome.
