So I played some games recently with these guys and they are pretty great, not to mention cheap and come out instantly.
At the same time they are bloody useless due to almost 100% overlap with volks since both:
- are a long range infantry squad.
- get a firepower upgrade.
- have a snare.
- have a grenade.
Sadly, if you keep your initial volks alive you will not have a reason to ever get panzerfusiliers in my opinion. Plus they are in a doctrine that's not so great for 1v1. I'm sad.

They do overlap, still they are simply better than volks. They are the unit you build after first tech and they definitely work in all game modes.
