Radnom Crash to desktop and COH2 "updates"?

This has happened a few times.

Everything will just crash to desktop and then I'll get an error report. When I try to restart COH2 I get an "Updating COH2" screen from Steam and can't play for like 10 minutes.

WTF?

Shit like this is why the game isn't worth 60 bucks.
