The people who use classic are the ones who learned using hotkeys in other rts game and didn't want to change or who think of actions the keys represent using their english names. Thats becouse these keys are generally the same in all rts games and they represent first letter of english action name.

If you learn to use hotkeys in coh2 or some other modern rts that uses grid keys its better couse its easier to learn - you probably used grid menu with same order before and its easier to use with one hand.

how do you scroll when you use grid?

Most people use middle mouse button, some also use screen edge for smaller corrections and minimap for larger ones.

Things I force myself to do:
  • Use tactical map
  • Hotkey snipers, mortars, and tanks
  • Use grid keys
  • Reinforce and move out of base with the top panel as to not unessicarily keep screen on base.

No. They are not good. Also, regular Hotkeys are not good. Still waiting for the day we get to set our hotkeys on our own

Why won't you just use AutoHotkey?

I use my keyboard driver. But this is a general issue that game has and why people lose the thrill to play it. Every game should have the possibility to customize your Keys

I wouldn't go that far as to how bad it is, its just another niggling issue to add to the "death by a thousand cuts" list.

I consider this as a big issue. First of all, players could look up the hotkeys, or set them to their own preferences. But since is not there, you can't do that and have to go with what is given. And that makes people not want to play a game.

I use grid keys for ages, so if you use classic key layout you can scroll with w,a,s,d or what? :o

I prefer classic hotkeys, but why oh why is the vehicle reverse on 'U'? Since vehicles don't have retreat and reverse is basically their version of retreat, why not just have it on 'T'?
