Actually you are getting confused...In real life SVT is not Carbine, in game it is what ever Relic decides to call it and they decided to call the profile of semi automatic rifles as "carbine profile"

What is this carbine profile to which you refer? I'm looking at the profiles of all the semi autos at the moment, and apart from a couple of the G43 types they all look completely different. What weapon do you think its typical of the carbine profile? genuine question.

PLS move this to the weapon profiles thread...

Why? surely any adjustment to Penals through their weapon belongs in the penals adjustment thread?

jump backJump back to quoted post6 Apr 2016, 07:38 AMMyself

But is completely wrong...
1)G43 is not a default weapon but a weapon upgrade thus more power full, try matching the Mp40 or shocks PPsh with Conscripts PPsh and see what happens

Cons PPsh actually matches the MP40 fairly well, how are the smgs relevant to penals?

2) G43 is restricted to half the squad member and not all of them, so unless you are suggesting that all members of axis squad should get G43 the comparison is not valid.

Why? I've match the profile not the damage, the G43 is still alot better then SVT numbers (5/3).

3)You are matching the profiles by only buffing the weapon far DPS which result to massive buff to the profile area...As I explained to you before that start of curve 5.99 is already too high because Penal squads have more DPS even then riflemen at that range...Now start you curve from around 4-4.5 instead of 5.99 and you would have a much more realistic curve...

Comon, don't be silly, 4.5 would make penals worse then the Guards rifle at all ranges, and the rifles on Guards are pretty poor.

Penals long range dps is horrible, ofc its going to be a big change to bring it upto OK.

And you are confusing why weapon profiles where introduced in the first place. With your suggestion Penals as t1 270 units would beat P.G. a 340 T2 unit far forcing P.G. to leave cover and attack. In addition a Penal squad with a flamer would beat P.G. at all ranges...and things would get even worse with veterancy...

PG have crazy high damage, even with a change to 1.3 on the penals means PG's will win in heavy cover at range and 50/50 in light. Not bad considering they do 70-100% more damage close - mid. Flamers also implies a muni spend but the Penals will prob still lose.

Having durable, cheap to reinforce squads, with high veterancy bonuses, with access to flamer that deny cover and without any weakness in any range, breaks infatry to infatry fights forcing enemy players to look for solution elsewhere...

With the stats I stated Penals will still lose at short range to short range squads and long range to long range squads especially if their upgraded. They have almost zero utility outside of their ability to shot stuff. If the AI squad can't beat other infantry, especially mainline infantry with plenty of other uses, noones going to use them ... as is the case now.

I cant agree that buffed penals with semi auto and flamers would be op just like rifles.
First of all, rifles did not force you for certain tech.
Secondly, utility. Pineapple, at nades, smoke vs satchel.
Thirdly BARs. What made rifles op, was combination of BAR and flamer.

In other words, Rifles where good against everything. Great AI and decent AT, plus support of Ltn or Cap, whatever suits.

Penals dont have such luxory.

Rifles had quite a lot of stuff that penals miss.

Durability with vet being most important here, but contrary to rifles, penals are extremely vulnerable against light vehicles, 222 rips them a new one and they are completely helpless against it.

You will never see as much penals as rifles for the sole reason they lack all the utility needed by main infantry, you still need conscripts for AT nades, you still need guards or fast T2 for AT, you can do magic with rifles because of their nades, AT nades, smoke, capt buffs, penals have none of it, flamer was one reason why elite rifles were op, but it was hardly THE reason.

Penals and TH Partisans work well together.

I'm not talking about having an advantage, but about having a squad that is valid againt players with better rank then 500+.
