I know we have more important issues atm, but after checking the last bugs, i found that if the LT is the last model to remain alive, it will pick up the bar and retain it till the LT model is killed. Basically it steps over the Thomson weapon.
Once killed, the weapon is passed and then reinforce, the LT will have again the Thompson.

This already happens and has been a thing for awhile. Thomphsons aren't a slot weapon for the officers, they are something they have off the bat which results in any slot weapon overriding their SMG should they get the gun.
I guess one work around would be to make the M1 SMGs slot items so they can't be overridden by another slot item, but it could also make the squad a pinata.

What if they did that and made the Lieutenant squad picking up BARs give them a unique version that drops less?
Dunno about the specifics for doing that though, they might have to turn the LT's Riflemen into special entities to do this as well.
