Would have added a unique playstyle which fits in with the factions turtling design..
Either used as a grenade at close range or as an anti-tank mine to blow the tracks / wheels off a vehicle.
Hell if you got Hawkins grenades as part of the Piat upgrade or as a side tech to global grenade you'd be able to slow down Axis armour enough that Piats would be useful against them. The remove cover ability on RE is probably based on them ( another one of it's uses) it was a light squad weapon rather than a 100kg M6.
Wouldn't even have to do much damage or any damage, just give an engine or stun crit to enable a couple of Piat volleys.
Would have made more sense than the gammon bomb I think.
I wonder why Relic didn't add the Hawkins grenade...
