Did I mess a memo or something? I thought engine damage was guaranteed and it fails two times!?
Just had this occur in a 1v1;
-At 2 points of the game I fired a PF towards enemy scout car, both times it hit but did no engine damage. One time was long range, the other was close.
-There was no cancellation or retreat order involved, I did not issue any disruptive commands.
-This occurs at 6:00 and at 9:00 (or slightly before) in the replay, just fast forward and follow the soviet scout car.

Update: Rewatched the replay and they both miss for some reason with completed animation (deal no damage at all to the scout car). What gives? Is it just extreme bad luck or is something wrong here?

Strictly anectdotal, but I had two games yesterday where i was ploughing 3-4 fausts into the scoutcars and they still weren't dying. 3 fausts to kill had previously been the max I've experienced.

Same happend to me... 2 Fausts in the same game did almost no damage. And they didn't kill one of the members inside the car either.
I play mostly 1v1 and my post are with 1v1 in mind.
