G-Sync causing constant bugsplats

I have just posted this on the official bug forums but thought id share it here as it may help some people out with the same issue.

I have been getting constant bugsplats lately when trying to load coh2. The screen flickers about 100 times then the company of heroes 2 loading screen appears, then bugsplat. This happens a good 90% of the time when i try and load coh2. After doing a few tests ive found out that it is linked with g-sync. If g-sync is enabled i get constant bugslats, when i disable g-sync i have no issues at all and the game runs fine. I dont have any problems with any other games i play it is just isolated with coh2. Im not sure if it is a nvidia driver issue or if it is a problem with the game its self.

If anyone else suffers from constant bugslats and are using a g-sync monitor try disabling it and see if you get better results.

I've had the same issue. It's gone after I've installed Windows 10 from scratch.

I never had any issues with my 780gtx either it's since I have upgraded to a 980 ti the problem started but it is definately linked with g-sync for me.

I've done a clean install with windows 10 and managed to install the graphic drivers without Windows update interfering but still the same. I had the same bugslat issue with Windows 7 with the latest couple of drivers released.

Fuck its Gsync causing it? That explains everything.

My workaround has been to alt+enter during boot to deactivate fullscreen. Then you can turn it on again with the same keystrokes again. It never made sense to me why this would work but now it does, non fullscreen means gsync is disabled.

It started many patches and drivers ago for me and has persisted between my 970 and 980ti.

Thanks for the info ThoseDeafMutes i have tried what you have said about hitting alt/enter on the loading screen and it seems to works for me to.

Looks like it is linked with nvidia 9 series graphics cards and g-sync.

Did you try disabling g-sync to see if it worked for you?

I haven't tried anything like that yet, but I suspect that it will work if Alt+Enter does since that prevents G-sync from operating on it in its normal function.

Hmm, can't confirm. I got a GTX 980 Ti some days ago and hadn't had any bugsplats. G-Sync is still activated. The only thing I did is decreasing monitor frequency from 144Hz to 120Hz cause the options in CoH2 don't offer an entry with 144.

I'm counting the cost now :gimpy:

You could add "-window -lockmouse" to lauch options in steam. At least a little bit more comfort.

I can't imagine. This is low priority issue in the glue between Nvidia, Relic, MS...
But it's still interesting: 780 works fine, 980 not. Too fast?

Graphics drivers are super complicated, it doesn't surprise me that we'd have odd issues like this on some models but not others. There was an architectural change between 780 and 980 (Kepler vs Maxwell), I had the problem on both my Maxwell cards (980 vs 980ti use different chips but in the same architecture).

Edit:

And I just did some manual checking; disabling G-sync in "monitor technology" section of Nvidia control panel for reliccoh2.exe also fixed the issue for me. ULMB or fixed refresh instead of G-sync did the trick, although this is basically just confirming what we already knew based on this thread.

Does it works for you guys now? I was having the same issue with g sync, and now since September 3rd (I think or around this september) it started working with g sync without any issues.
