Are these worth using against medium tanks? Can it pen a pz4 reliably?

Yes,they can penetrate panzer IVs frontally with a decent chance
But there can also be horrible RNG and you can miss and not penetrate 3 shots in a row,so you're better off using a jackson against tanks.

In a frontal exchange, assuming all shots pen, Pz4 > Sherman AP round.
Sherman isn't a hard counter to pz4, you better have a zook squad next to it if you can't have a jackson.
