It never got any better, I read more into it and the settings I set meant it would not get any better.

It's going to take ages to render that with any quality.

So I got a little into Blender imported some minecraft maps learned textures and lighting and have been working on stuff, see in this I'm able to turn on lighting etc from the lava and torches and have it render in a few mins rather than 40 hours, still working on the quality though, my new video card arrives tomorrow so should speed things up.

Also notice the lights filtered through the glass blocks in the top of the castle.

so trying to reconnect my sheep farm with main house, and found that i need to descend around 40 blocks through thin air....! any tips?

The Fernsehturm is at -225, 65?, 280 in the nether. You can see my floating bridge that links the Zombie dungeon and the Lynskey/Ami settlement pretty clearly to it's East.
