Now that everybody has it, let's discuss about how this 'Stall until 9 CP' doctrine can work.

Lets wait till they Fix Heat rounds first. - By fix I mean when they scatter they lose a lot of velocity and you can tell that it is a scatter and not a hit just due to how slow the round is moving in comparison, it usually scatters short almost every time due to this and has almost zero chance of hitting the target.

Also the Pz4's aren't even that good they are slightly worse than Whermacht Pz4's and come in a lot later. They also NEED to be upgraded for 80? Muni Each with the extra durability to be worth while at all.

I did just fine with 2 shrecked volks and 2 puppchens against elite rifle.

Not sure about soviets, but why you would want these P4s against them anyway?

It's a high risk strat. I believe so far:

-better in team games

-Several Volksgrens with PzS must still be made in addition to puppchen (vital). The infantry is going to be on their own against AFVs for a while.

-Only make T2 (medic truck). Do not make any vehicles that cost fuel.

-Once 9CP hits, which will be a long time- there may be still a wait for that 210 fuel

-Call in once 210 fuel hits. Upgrade MGs first. Then upgrade the skirts.

Does anybody know the Skirts (80 muni) armor bonus?

I'd say upgrade skirts first and then MG. That MG isn't gonna help you when your tank is burning :P

Vehicle self repair is also terrible for the cost.

Looks like it gives them 30% armour.

You're sure?

so regular is 160, 80.

Upgraded is 160, 104

Hmmph..I'm not sure if this actual helps materially in anything vs Soviets or USA actually..

Pretty situational. Overall, only the MG looks to be really worth it. Maybe HEAT shells in a jam but I haven't tried it yet.

It upgrades both frontal and back armour, why would it upgrade only back armour?

If you are in a team game, then chances are at least someone is going to be OKH, and can get proper PIVs earlier.

What makes these so good that this is a viable option?

For me I thought this was the other way, something that gives OKW a Generalist Tank they don't otherwise get for 1v1

Maybe convert fuel to muntions from the start and rely on scavanging to make up the fuel defecit?

Because the skirts are on the flanks.

Where did you get that 30% figure?

I did test it a bit. The 210 fuel is tough to get by 9 CPs and the munitions income is still bare bones (need it for panzershreck, etc.) Getting T3 would probably involve getting into late game and trying to boost fuel income from there.

It's in the game files - after all I'm one of the "stat guys", you might know my site www.coh2-stats.com?

I don't think any upgrades can only improve specific parts of the tank armour (so, frontal or back armour) - they all seem to upgrade all armour.
And skirts are on the sides not on the back, so it wouldn't make sense to upgrade only the back armour anyway :P

Pretty much, the only "good" part about it is it heals crits, but hey, USF get that for free if they just jump out the tank. Come on Relic, the self repair in its current state in the Doctrine needs to be 20, maybe 30 muni, MAX, not the 60 or 80 it is right now.

Puppchen is the Rataken 43. Okw's AT gun from the HQ truck.

The germans nicknamed it "Dolly". Simpler name than raketenwerfer 43.

Ok, thanks for the confirm.

So the armor skirts upgrade brings it up to this: 208, 104.

Not bad (the front armor that is). It should make a difference.

You'd think for "Elite Armour" Doctrine we'd get something better than Pz4's. I know they were a staple tank in the war and we already have options for Panther's, KT, and other doctrinal tanks. I feel this is just a way to try and say "Look guys, you get a medium tank call in too just like t34-85 lol" - Except it's worse, at least IMO I'd give advantage T34-85 with Zis support then I would to Pz4J with Puppchen/shreckvolks.
