The Sherman accuracy

I saw Rodgers video, and was glad I was not the only one having Shermans not hitting the broad side of a barn. Has anyone else had this problem consistently too?

As said, RNG affects perception pretty hard. Take in mind the sherman in Rodgers video was constantly moving, which halves accuracy.

I would wait for actual numbers and stats to rely on.

Actually if what I know is correct moving doubles the scatter. Since scatter is two-dimensional (by length and by angle), doubling scatter distance in both dimensions QUADRUPLES the area where the shell might fall when firing at infantry.

Its realistic, but this is quite boring to deal with in-game, relying on dice roll... I'd prefer unit from all sites being too effective than both player having either to stop their tanks or to have luck.

It does both - accuracy is halved and scatter is doubled.

Scatter change was made because moving tanks were too effective against infantry (where accuracy doesn't matter anyway).

As for stats - accuracy for Shermans is exactly the same as for any other tank gun. 5% * target size at close range and 2,5% * size at max range.

My issue, I know it was bad RnG, moving the tank too much. But even a DIRECT hit on a low health squad with an HE shell did NO damage. Whats the point of HE if its not an AOE of damage?

Well, according to stats, the only difference between regular and HE shells I can see is that HE has worse penetration (obviously), 50% larger AoE radius and slightly larger scatter distance.

So, from the stats it seems good - it doesn't account for any bugs Relic might have in the game though.

With the new AOE profiles, you might have to re-evaluate what constitutes a "direct hit".

I have found the same. Shermans can't hit infantry. They seem to have decent accuracy against kingtigers and jagdtigers, which are the size of a barn.

The time for speculations is over!

Here are the stats: M3 75mm HE Shells sherman_m3_75mm_he_shell_mp.xml

Scatter angle: 6.0 (less is better)
Scatter distance: 6.9
AoE radius: 3.0
AoE far: 2.25
AoE mid: 1.5
AoE near: 0.75

For comparison, the T34/76: f34 76mm T-34 Gun t34_kv1_m1940_f-34_76mm__mp.xml

Scatter angle: 7.5
Scatter distance: 6.9

AoE radius: 2.5
AoE far: 1.875
AoE mid: 1.25
AoE near: 0.625

Conclusion: Sherman HE is fine. RNG happend.

yes its pretty fine. in that video the Sherman was always moving and was behind heavy green cover of course it wouldn't hit much.

Relic probably made some last minute changes. I remember I was doing great at killing infantry with HE Sherman in the Alpha, it has such high splash radius.

I'm surprised they didn't fix the truck crush that players were complaining about since the alpha.

I can vouch for this. Sherman doesn't hit squat. I base this off 3 games that I've played tonight. I haven't managed to kill any decent amount of kills on any of the Shermans despite them firing at blobs of OKW Infantry.
