Nice. The case is just... perfect. It's like the proverbial "black box."

I just cooked that GTX 285 for the FOURTH time, and fixed it for the fourth time. It's now in my son's computer. Can't believe it LOL.

Funny pics of GPU in oven for the lols: http://www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?s=&showtopic=682490&view=findpost&p=9196028

Looking at getting 6GB more ram to get up to 12GB on my main rig.

Just get your son a 750ti, runs a lot cooler and doesn't even need the 6-pin PCIe power connector.

My extra 6GB of G-skill DDR3-1600 RAM arrived just now. So happy to be on 12GB now!

I've had 16GB for the last 3.5 years

And I don't regret it.

I remember when I got those 16 originally and you were all like, 16 GB bra, who needs 16? any more than 6 GB is a waste!

You should get 32GB Xcom.

My computer should always be harder, better, faster, stronger in my eyes.

The last 3 years the focus has been on power efficiency rather than processing grunt.

The i7 gen 2 (Sandybridge) was the most massive leap in processing power from the i7 gen 1 (Nehalem). It almost doubled, and the i7 gen 1 was a great leap over the 'Core' processors that came before.

Since the sandybridge; the ivybridge was barely 10% faster, then the Haswell again barely 10%. However the power efficiency is now through the roof, so the system runs a lot cooler, and is more stable.

But I want faster. Yet again, the Broadwell based chips are due out by the end of this year but will likely once again be more power efficient and not much faster.

In the "Advanced" settings in OBS there is a "Video: x264 Preset" that I have currently on "very fast", which is the default. With my first generation i7, I'm not supposed to try higher than that. The next highest setting would be "faster", which is recommended for Sandybridge and better processors. It's something I would be interested in to help me stream at 1440p w/o frame loss.

The extra RAM didn't seem to help much (pagefile on SSD was so damn fast you barely notice the difference). My scene transitions in OBS are still clunky and I can't figure out how to force OBS to keep the sizzle video (coh2.org logo/alienware logo/sega/relic) in memory. I read that you should make it a "global scene", but when I tried that, the video failed to play altogether.

I appreciate your beefy rig, X, but you're choked by your internet, which is preventing you from pushing any limits when it comes to stream quality.

I built this at work last week. 64GB Memory, 6 core i7 4930K, and 5 1TB SSD's. My workstation at work is the same specs but only 32GB of memory and 1 1TB SSD :C

Both are still nothing compared to the server I'm currently working on, 2X 6 Core Xeons with 120GB memory and 8 600GB 15K SAS drives in RAID 10. Oo

I like that the coffee is placed precariously right above it :P

Oh nice specs too ;)

Oh and get a mechanical KB, scrub. Bud and I recommend "daskeyboard" if you're in the States.

Make and model on the case? Just curious. It's too weird for me, I prefer the crisp black box.

NZXT Phantom 410.

NZXT makes good cases that are well thought out, but their design choices are on the rice side. It's really dividing, people either hate it or love it.
