It just seems that a lot of .50 MGs are always much better than cannons except in head-on engagements and against bombers. I'm playing the USSR exclusively, so fighter combat is quite difficult thus far. Dat Il-2 though.

Rocking up the Jap tech tree 
They're alot of fun, they seem more maneuverable and can take a beating. Useful for dogfights though their guns seem below average.

@ BlackHorseCav' I play USSR only so far as well and at lower Tir the fighters aren't so great but wait until you'll get higher tirs..
I prefer cannons because 1-2 good shoots and you can kill a plane .
Specially with Yak9T omg its a beast !
@ S73v0 : Yeah, the Jap planes are great dogfighters but as far as I know they are paper thin lol so its easy to shoot them down.
and about beaufighters they are, but you can always outmaneuver them they turn so slow if you see its dive on you just turn and get on their six..
if he runs let him run lol

Anytime I get shot down it's a fucking Hurricane. Annoying plane. And the PBY is hilariously hard to kill.
