Ultimately, if someone is trying to play on 32-bit Windows, they're gonna have a bad time :p That's all the average player really has to take away from this.

Sure, the conclusion is right. I just felt that this is worth mentioning for the sake of correctness. Especially as everybody who still uses 32-bit system must have learned this the hard way after trying to install 4gb of memory and getting only 3. So actually anybody who reads that 32-bit section will know that it is not true, even if he doesn't know why intel did it that way in their architecture.

It may be possible through the advanced text file editing section at the end of the guide, but I doubt it. If you couldn't see particle effects, you wouldn't know what was happening for half of the game.

Turning effects down to lowest is about the best thing you can do. It should reduce their density and detail. Overclocking your video card would very likely help as well. Effects are handled mostly, if not entirely, by the 2D engine of your video card, which is much less powerful than the 3D engine. Clockspeed would probably have a big impact on it.

Haha. Honestly, it's probably fine. Even if your video card is the bottleneck at the beginning of a match, you'll almost certainly find that your CPU becomes the bottleneck as the game goes on due to the game's coding.

As far as the RAM goes I would also recommend Razer Cortex, been using for some time now and cant really say it hasn't helped my 2011 Sony VAIO with 4 gigs of RAM, looking to upgrade to 8 soon but until then... Thanks for the guide, I'll make sure to fav it and maybe come back to it one day for some regular maintenance.

Wow, what an amazing guide. And to the designers of this game, shame on you. You did a terrible job. When this was released the newest Titan could not run it maxed out for 60fps. Poor coding and optimization, lazy company.

Well, the odds are that they were caught between a rock and a hard place with THQ going under. They were probably placed under a lot of pressure to rush development. That said, only someone who worked there could really say what the reasons were.

Fingers crossed they are able to improve how the code uses the CPU in future, without the whole game turning into a buggy mess.

Sorry for the late delay. I didn't have the guide subscribed for notifications.

In terms of specific hardware, it's generally a good idea to make your own thread if you haven't already. A lot more people will notice it then (guides don't pop up to the top of forums and the front page like normal threads do when someone posts on them).

It's possible that video card would be designed to share the normal RAM on your laptop. That may prove satisfactory (although not optimal) as far as laptop performance goes. But in general I would recommend trying to get a video card with at least 2GB of dedicated VRAM if possible. 1GB is very small for almost any modern game.
