I think it would be better to work the other way round, which of these units kinda fills a niche no matter how bad it does.

M21 MHT is slow-firing but it still has useful phosphorus shells- not enough to make it a good, or even decent unit, but it comes in handy in a pinch

Wolverine I'd say is pretty alright too, i've seen a bunch of games casted where it put in good work that a Jackson wouldn't be able to. It's just the OKW shrecks that give it so much trouble, otherwise its very similar to the Puma

M3 assault group is expensive, but gives access to demo charges which can be worth their weight in gold... sometimes

SU76-useful vs the Luchs, some people still use this to great effectiveness (namely Redwings)

Partisans- pretty awful.

Irregulars- also pretty awful

Ostheer sniper- no matter how easily it dies, it's still a sniper and fills a role no other unit in the faction arsenal can fill. Again, some people can make good use of this unit as well.

Artillery field officer- nice novelty abilities but rubbish compared to the OKW officer

LEFH- junk.

P4 battlegroup- Nope.

LEIG - can, once in a while, perform miracles. Not good nor reliable, but not absolutely awful

OKW Flak- costs as much as a squad, with the added 'bonus' of 10 fuel, and dies to single grenades, sniper shots, concentrated fire... bad.

So IMO that leaves Partisans/Irregulars, Arty officer, LEFH, P4 Battlegroup, OKW Flak.

...on a specific map.

Langres, 3-4 conscripts backed up with two snipers, the double zis, then IS2/T3485 from shock rifle/guard motor/armored assault.

I can't get ostheer light vehicles to cut it when chasing snipers, even without guards on the field, because of mines/AT nades. large T1 to T3 to try and punish holding out for call-ins by getting P4s to get map control doesn't seem to work either, because the field guns cover so much ground and the risk of mines prevents diving in on the snipers. Pak 43 is really exposed to snipers on that map from the north too. So I end up with LMG grens, which on most maps help beat conscripts- but snipers pick me to pieces in a static fight, or I go for a flank and charge snipers, which sprint away and the conscripts (and shocks if there are any) eat up the grenadiers at close range.

Any suggestions? Halftrack and try to bunker his cutoff? or is it just a L2P micro issue?

Here is a replay vs HOI Zarkcloud. I win, but only with the Ace and because I think he screwed up in the end, which isn't much of a win in my books. And i'd like to know what to do with any other doctrine.

How many seconds is it? I'm sure the time is significantly lower than what it was on release.

Anyways, it is a relatively redundant ability since so what you activate repair - there is still the chance it will get hit again and die, losing you munitions and the tank.

I don't think you understand- it guarantees, mathematically, the survival of a T70 that would otherwise die. There's no chance involved.

Take a T70 that drives into a Pak. It takes a shot, 160HP left. It reverses and the pak takes another shot. It dies.

Now if it took the first shot, and you hit self-repair, you have 3 seconds worth of healing by the time the second shot hit. There's no way it can die on the second shot. At which point you should be well on your way out of there- if you sit in front of a pak for 7-8 whole seconds after the first shot and die to the third hit that's just a screw-up on your part.

When we have a cheaper blitz ability saving panthers, yes, the t70's self repair can easily be written off as bad. Its 70 munitions and wont heal the entire tank... :/

Never said it was blitz/smoke/APCR-level good, just that it certainly isn't useless like people seem to think. Neither is it a vet ability like Blitz, which you didn't take into consideration
