yeah... something about the nature of his rifle makes him attack the structure itself. if you just position him within range of the building he'll shoot at it.
even then, there's reduced accuracy against targets in buildings, so every shot will not necessarily result in a kill.

Thread: How often did tanks have MG's mounted on top of the turret?16 Jun 2016, 13:52 PM
all tanks in real life have at least one top-mounted MG (normally for the loader). US tanks have a second MG for the commander... plus the coax. MGs are not typically for anti-air (waste of ammo), but rather for close-in defense, especially when working with friendly infantry. coh2 is really good at ignoring friendly fire. you don't want to be anywhere near (i.e. within 200 meters) of the front arc of a tank when the main gun goes off. Thread: AT: reactionary or be prepared 14 Jun 2016, 06:20 AM
it depends on fuel control and your opponent's playstyle, but you never want to be caught with no real AT on the field. even with a single AT gun you can usually position it properly and bait. one or two hits on a luchs will at least force him to back off and repair or risk losing it. as USF, once i have a captain and an AT gun i base future decisions entirely on what the opponent is doing... but if i'm floating manpower mid/late game and have nothing else, i'll usually build another AT gun. those M1s are pretty bad. Thread: The big bulletin poll10 Jun 2016, 22:02 PM
now that bulletins can't stack, the bonuses should be more in the range of 5-10%... so they make an impact on the game. the whole point was that it gives your units a boost but also gives your opponents a hint about your playstyle. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Stormtroopers should have better veterancy bonuses10 Jun 2016, 18:35 PM
at the risk of starting one of those "realism vs balance" things... elite infantry are infantry units based on what were elite formations during the war. they should cost more manpower but they should be expected to do more things good or specific things well. they're not intended to be blobbed... instead, you use them in certain situations to turn decisive engagements in your favor. true elite infantry: obers (not sure historically what this is based on, but all of OKW is wacky, so garden it) falls rangers commandos stormtroopers (should be... but don't perform that way) shocks crack infantry (likely to be blobbed but should be better than mainline infantry): panzer grens guards panzer fusiliers paratroopers i consider penals more of a specialist AI unit; jaegers and pathfinders have a specific role (recce/sniper unit). i know this is just like, my opinion, man. but it's a good opinion. Thread: 7 VPs Left...7 Jun 2016, 18:21 PM
Normally when I play brits i don't go this emplacement heavy, but between Minsk Pocket and our successful early game I thought it made sense. I skipped tier 3 initially because I wanted to rush the Crocodile. I think it got out too late... I was floating a ton of fuel. I wanted to build a 17 lber center as well but was really short on manpower all game. Any tips or thoughts, particularly on late game stuff? I know towards the end I started committing piecemeal just to try to win outright. In: Replay Reviews |
Thread: 2v2 Loss - 7 VPs Left7 Jun 2016, 18:18 PM
I'll move this to the replay review section. Need help with UKF late game... kind of wondering where we went wrong on this one. In: Replays |
Thread: BARs on Rangers?6 Jun 2016, 16:44 PM
so i took cyanara's advice and tested a few times with cheat mod (mainly against grens in yellow and green cover). like cookiez says, there's very little drop off with thompsons at mid range. probably not worth it to do BARs unless you have a ton of munis and want to add BARs on top of thompsons. interestingly enough, unvetted rangers with BARs are almost no better than rifles with BARs. give rangers thompsons though, and... |
