Friend and I tested out some infantry matchups: pios vs engies at close range, conscripts vs grens at long range and close range, pgrens vs hit the dirt conscripts, etc. The replay is ~1 hour long so if you bother watching it, I recommend fast forward. Basically we didn't learn anything interesting except:
1) If conscripts with PPSh have hit the dirt, and pgrens run straight at them, the conscripts can win (and maybe will usually win?)
2) You can't fire backwards while moving, so infantry running away from people are useless. That's actually super important. |
I got matched up against Dullahan, and the name sounded familiar. I asked him if he was GR.org staff and he said yes (but of course replays don't preserve chat so you can't see us talking) so after the game I went and checked...
He's the senior strategy specialist for Company of Heroes 2! That's pretty cool. So I thought I'd post this replay so you can check out the Ostheer strategy/build order/etc. used by one of the top strategy specialists in this game. |
The resource system in general is terrible. Strategic points giving fuel + munitions, OPs for extra fuel or munitions, constant manpower income, only a few fuel points to cap per map, fewer cutoffs, no division between low/medium/high resource points... big step backwards from CoH. |
Although to be fair it's pretty easy to unlock stuff in WarGame whereas in CoH 2 you have to jump through 80 hoops to unlock the bulletins and grind forever to unlock the commanders. |
Thanks! |
That makes sense. Of the 15.56% from Germany, how much of that is you? |
Thanks! |
Maybe TeaGuy has a split personality. |
I think we can all agree that
1) Customizable hotkeys are an obvious must-have feature in this day and age - this is PC gaming! We've had customizable hotkeys for decades! So it was silly of Relic not to plan for this.
2) There might be more important things they need to work on, but on the other hand that's the same excuse we get for no rewindable replays, no observer mode, no way to see both teams' resources in a replay, no way to see the end of game stats screen after a replay, no in game ladder, no in game lobby with chat rooms, and so on. And that excuse starts to run thin when Relic clearly put a LOT of work in to the bulletin unlock system and the skin customization system, and it looks like Theater of War was also a ton of work.
3) Clearly, then, Relic has cut the wrong corners, at least from our perspective. Maybe they did it to appeal to compstompers and people who like grinding XP and unlocking stuff, or maybe they did it for some other reason. Who knows. But there are plenty of things they could've axed from Company of Heroes 2 in favor of obvious needed stuff like hotkeys we can rebind. |
Sweet! |
